Which car do you have, and what is your current nav disc?

The address book is not in the DVD nav unit memory, which is a DVD ROM, so if you are saying that you are worried about that, I would not. Whatever is in your address book now will reappear with the newer disc provided it is compatible. There were software upgrade issues with 4.62, which ultimately got fixed in 4.64 and 4.73

I actually do not remember reading about any issues going from 4.3x to 4.5x

I assume you want your street address for the "Go Home" function?
If address is not there, you can save an address by map location. Just store "Home" when you are parked in driveway.

I have done that but the street my subdivision is off of does not exist either. So when I am about a mile away it tells me that this is not a designated area.

A suggestion:

If you are comfortable sharing your street address (or even a nearby address or intersection if not your specific address), members with higher versions of the RL DVD can look it up on their NAV and see if it is covered in the latest DVD address database.

You must live in a recently developed area, or an area extra suburban or rural that has yet to be mapped. Does it show up on Google Maps?

I have the 4.63 disc in my RL. And yes, your address is listed. You are right between Floral and Nichols.

The new features in the 4.63 will also be nice for you including the DST fix, one way traffic icons, additional POI, better Nav Traffic markings and I also find it boots up faster.

You may run into a speedbump when applying the 'freebee' disc. Load it as usual. If it gives you an error message something like 'contact dealer' try these steps:

Go into NAVI Diagnostic Screen (Press and HOLD Menu + Map + Cancel buttons simultaneously)

Select the VERSION icon

Select the DOWNLOAD icon and see if the download continues.

Select RETURN icon until you exit out of the Diagnostic screens (be cafeful here, not intended for owner use).

Shut off car and reboot.

Should be good to go.

I believe some 05 RL owners experienced issues with the 4.6X versions.

The latest 4.73 version includes a second disc for 05 RLs to update the NAVI flash memory to a current version so it would accept the enhanced features.

I don't know for certain if you would have this issue.

You can try it, if the download does not complete, you can try my fix above.

If that does not work, you would have to reinstall your current version and likely order the 4.73 latest version with the second disc patch for your 05 RL.
