Clarity of menu/navi voice
Clarity of menu/navi voice
Hello all - I just purchased a 2005 RL. One thing I have noticed is that it is really hard for me to understand the voice that activates when navigating menus and/or navi. For some reason the voice only comes thru the lower speakers in the front door. I could have sworn that the 05TL I owned a few years back had the voice coming thru the center channel.
Anyone else feel the voice is "muffled" or am I simply going deaf?

The sound does come from the front speakers, and if you have the music turned up loud, it will be difficult to hear, but not because it's muffled, but because the rest of the speakers drown out the front.
Taking the volume issue aside, The clarity is fine.

Playing music via AM/FM, XM, CD, etc sounds fine. However, with the voice coming only thru the lower door speakers, I just have a hard time hearing it. I am currently using the woman voice.
I do not believe the NAVI voice prompts are routed to the center dash speaker.
Have you checked your NAVI Volume? Select the SETUP button on the center stack (lower right side). Then one of the MENU options is VOLUME. What VOLUME is set? I have found I have mine set nearly MAX. And that works fine with my stereo typically set on Volume 14.
You can also raise & lower the NAVI Voice Volume when in operation using the volume control button on the steering wheel. It just will not display the volume setting when doing so.
And just as a personal preference, I find the female voice gets drowned out easier in the moving car, than the male voice, which has a bit more bass and depth. Of course the male voice is no longer enabled in the newer NAVI DVDs.
