Bluetooth HandsFreeLink Treo 650 Blackberry 7250
I just purchased my 2005 RL on Sunday and picked up a Treo 650 on Monday from Verizon so I can get the bluetooth to work. Let me tell you, it is the worst experience ever---the Treo rebooted almost every time it was used, the signal and battery doesnt show up, the calls drop, etc. I am an avid Treo user, been using the 600 since it came out, but I NEED my bluetooth car phone to pair and work properly.
Went to Verizon yesterday, exchanged it for the Blackberry 7250, and within minutes I had this device paired and working perfectly. Signal strength and battery life were both showing up perfectly. Calls are clear and I did notice that the signal strength on this unit is much better than with my Treo--must have a really good antenna.
Now, I have to just learn the darn Blackberry....to me, having the device working without flaw is so worth it!
Has anybody else experienced a similar result with the Treo 650 or the Blackberry?

Congrats on the new car! Glad to hear the blackberry is working well. I have a cousin who tried the Treo 650 with his LS430 and has had problems - he then switched to the blackberry and it worked fine for him. I am sure eventually VZW will release a patch to update the bluetooth in the Treo - as they did with the V710.
I have a Sprint version of the Treo 650, and it paired very easily and has worked without a hitch for a month. I don't get the battery-strength indicator (which is okay with me), and I haven't been able to use AcuraLink for data transfer. But for incoming and outgoing calls, the Treo works just great and sounds very good, and I'm quite happy with the 650.
A month or two ago, Sprint released a software update for Sprint Treo 650s, which addressed (among other things) compatibility with Acura's HandsFreeLink. I installed that update right before I bought my RL, and I've had no problems. I don't know if Palm has issued such a software update for Verizon 650s, but you might want to check before ditching your 650. (And no, you certainly cannot count on Sprint or Verizon to provide you a new phone that has the latest software...unfortunatley, they leave the updating up to you.)

I've also have had the same issues as Curry7. Works great bu tit is frustrating that it cannot connect to the AcuraLink Server.

It's my understanding that should one of the warning lights come on, say the check engine light, the car will send the info causing that event, to the server for analysis...the info is sent through the data service of the linked phone...a phone call, if you will. The analysis is then returned to the car, not through the phone, but through the normal way messages are downloaded. With the infomation provided, the driver can make a more informed decision as to the seriousness of the problem and possible solutions and corrective measures needed.
The way it was explained to me, the check engine light could light up because the gas cap wasn't tightened, and the data returned to the car is designed to avoid unnecessary trips to a dealer.
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me...or explain it better! <g>

The check engine light was an example given to me by one of the ACS folks. My understanding is that the system is designed to work when any of the major malfunction indicator lamps come on. It's not designed to work with regular maintenance reminders...just the potential problems triggered by a MID coming on.
