Does the RL have an antenna for hands free cell use or does it use the Phone's antenna? I always just assumed it had one but my friend (BMW) said the quality his reception changes depending on where he puts his phone.

The RL doesn't have an antenna for boosting your cell phone's range.... it's just an internal bluetooth link, audio only. The car has nothing to do with the phone call -- just think of it as using the car's audio system as a bluetooth earpiece (except one that doesn't make you look dorky when you wear it around....)

The phone still handles the call, and talks to the tower. So yeah, where you put the phone in the car will definitely affect call reception.

I generally put my phone on the passenger seat, if it's empty, or in the cupholder. Wish there were a better place for it in the car (maybe a nice little depression in the dash) but there it is.

Thanks...was just wondering. I keep mine in the cupholder or the not an ashtray. Reception is usually just fine.
