Battery Problem

This is the second time that I have had the battery go dead for no apparent reason. I know about the inside trunk release problem and I never use it, and I know about not turning the ignition completely off. I usualy use the vehicle at least two or three times a week so this has probably saved me from having this situation occur more often. I bought a battery top off voltage device which I have used most of the time, however, I left for a four day bussiness trip and neglected to put it on and found the battery completely dead. It took all day to recharge it.

My question is, if I install a battery line breaker for use when I leave the car at the airport on trips of more than a few days, will the door key function? It doesn't look like it has a chip but it would be good to know for sure.
Has anyone had this reoccuring problem? Has anyone used a power line breaker?
I realy think this is a vehicle problem and not a battery problem. I realize I will have some electronic resetting to do when I get back to the car but better to have a small inconvenience like that reather than a dead battery. My car is a 05 RL and I dont beleave that the battery life is only three years. My 97 Honda CRV battery lasted 10 years and I replaced it not because it went dead but because I was getting nervess at how long it would be before it failed.

Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated. Chuck

yes, you battery is dead after 3 years. Most cars I haveowned the OEM battery rarely has lasted more than 4 years.
I have 05 and it died a few months ago. Not completely dead, but showing symptoms. I drive it every day, so never a problem starting. It showed the symptom of not returning the steering wheel to the full telescoped position during start-up.
Take the battery to a parts store and get a load test. Mine showed normal voltage "at rest", but failed the load test.

chuck,
I have an 05 also. In the last two months noticed that the steering wheel was not extending to my setting upon starting the car. In the last month the car has failed to start twice and have had to charge overnite (drive once a week). It will start okay if I use it everyother day. In the last two weeks the rear windows failed to open with the drivers switches. Took it to the dealer today and they replaced the battery under warranty. Was told a low battery would cause both items to fail. There was no mention of a faulty battery or system drain problem. Although, I do suspect there is an issue with one or the other. We will probably have to replace the battery again in three years.

There is a thread on this. Look in the warranty booklet. It says the battery is warranted for a full 48 months, no pro rate. Probably a typo, but others have gotten their batteries under this.
