Bass response in Bose system inadequate
I have been displeased witht he bas response on my 2005 RL Bose system. I have tried all different settings on the subwoofer and find that it lacks the real punch of a good sub. I have a Ford F150 2005 Lariat supercrew with the upgraded audio systemwhich includes an 8"bass reflex ducted port Ford OEM subwoofer that is outstanding. The bass on this $550 option is beautiful. Tight and without any distortion at any volume level. Has anyone upgraded the sub on the RL?

With that said, I've discovered with my '05 that instead of increasing the level of the subwoofer all that much, that increasing the levels of the regular bass controls gives an overall better bass response than simply increasing subwoofer output.
My current levels are a slight boost in the Subwoofer, combined with a slightly higher boost in the normal treble and bass controls on both ends of the frequency response, leaving the middle alone...if you've ever used an equalizer in a home stereo system while playing records, with the bass and treble settings set higher than the middles, those are the settings I have on my RL's system.
As I recall, I've also reduced the concentration of the center channel slightly...I wanted to have more spaciousness to the sound...more sound from the surround...
