AUX line worth it w/USA Spec BT45ACU?
AUX line worth it w/USA Spec BT45ACU?
Given all the problems with my CD changer, I've took the plunge and ordered a BT45-ACU which will mount in the trunk so I can bluetooth to my phone and listen to music/podcasts, etc. with higher fidelity than the FM Bluetooth converter I'm using.
The BT45 unit has both an AUX input and a USB charging port, so I have a couple of multi-questions:
1) How would one run an AUX cable and/or long USB cable to the front of the car? Has anyone done it? I've taken the rear bottom cushion out in the past, but are there any places to even run a cable from the trunk? And how would one get it to the front neatly (the thought of pulling up carpet and such is not appealing).
2) Would adding these cables be worth it? Would a long USB cable charge anything? Would an AUX input really get used? (I used a standard MP3 in my Odyssey connected to AUX with a long cable, but is anyone in these modern days using AUX for anything?)
Thanks,
Rob

Reason -- Compulsion -->> not liking an unused feature, and imagining a possible use (such as a standard MP3 player), or an extra charging cable for a passenger.
Reality -- I installed the unit, and while it was reasonably straightforward to put the BT45 in, I'm glad I didn't attempt an AUX line to the front. There's no way I'd have had the patience or energy to find a path to get an AUX or USB cable neatly to the front from the trunk. Bluetooth autoconnect has been inconsistent the first few times I tried it. When it is connected the fidelity is much better than the FM bluetooth adapter.
