AUX for 2006 RL

Hi guys and gals, not new to forum (2008 member), just been dormant. Been searching as well as wondering what some of you have been using for/as an AUX input since it seems the isimple and USA-Specs won't work on our Nav model RL's? Love to get some thoughts.

This is what you need. GROM AUDIO USB UNIT <--- click link

It adds aux in port, it can read audio files from a usb drive and control some phones. It connects to the CD changer port behind the headunit unlike the usaspec units which connect to the XM module in the trunk.

Quick question: Do you have this exact unit in your RL? I ask because I purchase one from GROM but for USB/AUX (no bluetooth) and the unit works but is of poor quality. Meaning it'll skip and when I turn the radio on and off there's a 20 sec hang time before the unit plays. I ended up returning it.

If you do have it, do you like it and how's the quality?

Yes thats what I have. It does have a little hang time after a power cycle but not everytime. I just skip the track and it plays the next track immediately. Sound quality is like CD quality or the quality of ur weakest link, ur audio file bitrate.

My biggest complain is the way it banks the files from the usb drive. If I add a track ulteriorly to a playlist folder already on the usb drive, the unit will not respect the file order alphabetically as it is suppose to. Im not sure if it sees those file at all. What I do is I copy the USB drive onto my computer, I format the usb drive, reimport my track folders onto the USB drive with the newly added tracks. This way, the unit plays the tracks with the alphanumerical order set on ur computer.

EDIT: I think for better performance, its best to use small capacity usb drive like 4Gb. I am using a 32Gb drive, it could explain the slacking of the unit and slow skipping between tracks.

Hmmm..I didn't thought about using a smaller drive. I was using a 8G & 16G drive but i'll try to go with a 4G. Did you set up your folders as instructed in the user manual:
1. R&B
2. Rock
3. Hip Hop
4. Country
etc

Where you able to find out how to pause and scan for tracks?

Thanks

I've been lurking on these forums for a weeks now and can't find a solid answer. I'm looking for a way to connect my ipod to my '05 RL factory radio. I have a set up now that worked in the past with my '03 Accord factory radio, which connected through the CD changer port on the back of the radio and I press the CD button to connect it.

My issue is I would like to control my tracks from the radio or steering wheel controls, because keeping my ipod in my hand to change music will get me a ticket for texting and driving. Any help or suggestions guys?

I have an 05 as well. I purchased the USA SPEC PA15 HON2 ipod adaptor and it works fine. Should be around $130 or so. Was fairly easy to install. You can control the ipod either directly through the ipod, or through the radio controls (theres a switch on the USA SPEC box that allows for this flexibility). The only problem I've had, as I've recently written, is that I've gone through 2 cables that connect the USA SPEC unit to the ipod (around $30 each) due to wear.

With the USA-SPEC do you loose the Audio screen on the navi screen like you do with some of the other Aux and Ipod adapters?

This is what I have and it works great. That sucks to hear the cables have worn. I left mine in the trunk and ran the aux to the center console. What do you mean loose the audio on the nav screen?

On my Honda Euro Accord (Acura TSX) there was a "CD/AUX" button and I was able to connect an AnyCarLink (http://www.anycarlink.com/Honda.asp) which is very popular in Europe.

But there is no such a button on my Legend's radio.
Will I be able to connect this kind of boxes to my car?

Can anyone inform me?

Regards,
Türk
