Audio "Pop" at start up

I recently replaced my cd player with a used unit from ebay. Though the CD player now works, everytime I turn the car on I hear a single "Pop" from the speakers. I did not touch any ground wires or anything of that nature, this was simply a plug and play install. Has anyone been able to narrow down what part of the audio unit is causing the pop? I was hoping I could just swap out some parts from my other CD player to remedy the situation.

No. The previous owner had some subs running but I removed all of that wiring.

If the previous owner had subs, they had to disconnect the ANC either by disconnecting the mic(s) or unplugging the ANC unit at the amp. This is where your issue lies. There are threads on how to disconnect these.

The mic(s) are hooked up so Ill be checking the amp later. I still fail to see why the problem never existed with my pevious cd player though. The same product plugged in the same way is giving me a diff result which I dont understand.

If it is not the ANC...

What mode (source) is the stereo in when you turn the car on? Does it happen when you turn the car on and then turn the stereo on?

A "pop" is the sign of an offset being driven into the speakers that changes suddenly. As an audio test engineer, there is what is known as a "clicks and pops" test, and these offset changes are the typical culprits. It is possible that when the car turns on, as the voltage is settling out, the offset reaches a threshold and then changes suddenly. Unfortunately, this offset could be any codec or amplifier in the system, and a debug by the consumer is nearly impossible.

The "pop" happens anytime the car draws significant power. When I open my door and the headlights were previously on, I get the "pop". Otherwise it pops when I start the car and the radio was previously on. If the radio was off before the car starts then I hear nothing.

There is a component in the new system that has an offset sensitive to the power supply. Just to be clear, it happens in AUX, CD, XM, and FM/AM modes; right?

Had that happen on a customers car before coming from one of the speakers and it ended up being a faulty amplifier. The factory amp is in the trunk on the passenger side

Yeah I thought it dealt with amp or the head unit. Its coming from the front passenger door speaker.

Fixed

My issue was the used head unit I purchased. It was faulty to begin with and along with the "pop" came a parasitic draw. After getting tired of unhooking my battery for the winter, I put my old unit back in an problem solved. Cant play CDs again now though. Oh well
