Advice on AcuraLink Setup

I tried to setup my AcuraLink, but easy setup does not list Verizon Wireless. So, in custom setup, I have to input Name, Password and dial string. Anyone know what this is?

Has anyone setup AcuraLink with a Verizon Wireless Bluetooth phone (I have the V710)?

Because VZW is not listed on easy setup, does that mean it's not compatible?

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Yes you can do it with a V710, as that is what I have and it is set up via the custom setup procedure. The information to input can be found here in an existing thread so suggest doing a search and you should find it. I think the thread was active within that last two weeks or so, thus should not be hard to find. Just follow the instructions and remember it is case sensitive when you input the info.

I have Verizon and got it to work using this setup info that another member of this board posted:

Name: Verizon
Dial String: #777
Username: 123456789@vzw3g.com (phone number. Case sensitive)
Password: vzw (case sensitive)

Oh cool, I'll have to try this as well. I enabled DUN on my phone (quickly type ##DIALUP) but didn't know how to actually make the connection. What a resource!

Can anyone explain the purpose of linking your cell phone to the AcuraLink system? My Cingular phone connected fine with AcuraLink, but I have no idea what the connection is for or what I can do with it.. .?

The details are of course in your manual but in short it allows your car to 'phone home' and report problems to Acura. Something like that anyway.
