2006 RL power increase

I didn't see a thread about power increase from the 3.5L V6. Does anybody have any sites or info for tuners or simple bolt on performance upgrades? I know these cars aren't really work on much as far as power, but I'd like to see what my options could be. oh, and I slammed into a deer on Saturday with the Acura. Great weekend

I have yet to see a chip posted here that would do anything. I think the best "bolt on" upgrade would be an exhaust and CAI. People have proven 14 whp gains with that combo. The ATLP J-pipe, which is currently a fantasy, claims 10-14 hp, but it hasn't been fabricated yet. Your best bet is the Comptech Supercharger for +45 whp. It will only run you $8k.

I think pre cat deletes or high flow pre cats would yield the best performance gain but that would be illegal and you may or may not pass emissions testing depending on what state you live in. If I get bored with what the RL offers power wise, I'll throw on some high flow pre cats but I'm afraid to shock the SHAWD system with more power than it was designed for.

I wish that dam jpipe would hurry up

I know I am a little late to reply but with any kind of hp gain...you'd be adding air to the mixture and that would mean you'd need to add up fuel as well. I know on S2000 06+ you can get Hondata Flashpro but I am not aware of any such thing on RL. You don't want to increase too much hp without tune as it might result in detonation. Just my .02 cents.

Not sure if you read the SC thread, but Comptech did extensive work on that setup and came to a conclusion that a re-tune wasn't necessary. I think the RL CPU may be able to adapt fuel air ratios enough to keep things safe.

That's kind of weird that anyone would say that. I know engine would try to avoid knocks but if you are running too lean or rich, engine adds up to a certain % of fuel or air. I might be wrong as I don't know much about RL. I'll look up that thread but honestly, till I see some proof, I'd trust Honda engineer over Comptech engineer any day. You know?

Agreed, I know little to nothing about ECUs, SCs, or tuning mix ratios. Just relaying the information that I perceived from reading.

Thank you. Not trying to sound like a d'bag. Was just trying to see if you know more about it. I did some reading on it, it will be nice if we can get those people who had sc's to chime in their experience and how long their engines lasted them after putting SC on.

I talked to the only guy I trust with my cars. He is an actual engineer working on electric cars and this is what he said about mods to an extent, when I was asking if it's possible to install supercharger:

"How long have people been running this? Confirmed? I suspect long term reliability is difficult. That said, I have been impressed with Honda's new (04+ on non-S2k) fuel mgmt. Stock it seems to adapt very well to mods."

ECU will add a certain fuel percentage. depending on boost levels. Stock Map Sensor can handle up to 10.8lbs of boost before a upgraded one is needed.

Also keep in mind it is good to have some gauges or some sort to monitor your A/F ratio and Oil Temps.

Not trying to be a d'bag but can you please give me more info on where you got that info from?

I have convinced Todd Marcucci from Marcucci Motorsports to look into this and help me learn about RL so we can document everything and get into details about what can be done and what can't be done. It's going to be a slow process but we are going to need a lot of information on RL's engine and fuel management. Any input/help would be appreciated based on facts. I am not looking for people to tell me what their friend's friend told them.

I think I will start a new thread for this and all the people who have any experience can chip in?

Quit worrying about if people think you are a douche. Unless you are concerned yourself, who cares... LOL

Lol...sometimes when you are being honest and trying to keep ricers and stupid people out of your thread or stupid comments out...you have to say that so people would thing before being a d'bag. I don't think, I know I am a d'bag....to an extent..everyone is :p
Try driving 40mph in fast lane in front of me when limit is 70 and I guarantee you will call me d'bag and flip me off

I started a new thread about power on RL here:

What I said was pretty douchey, but I'm over it. I refuse to drive 40 in the fast lane unless we are jammed. I have my doughnut on right now pushing 55 in the far right lane. I keep having to put my hazards on to get stupid people off my ass. I can't wait to get my tires so I can blow past them on the left or right. I try not to be overly douchey when I drive, but I know it's what some people are thinking. Meanwhile I am thinking how stupid they are for being unaware they are in the left lane and not passing anyone. Oh well, like water on a duck's back...

When i first bought the RL i wanted to do a rear mounted turbo setup. planned on running a AEM Fuel ignition controller.

I tested the map sensor with my air compressor/regulator. I hooked up the MAP sensor to the air compressor. i measured the voltage per Psi. it is nearly identical to the MAP scale that is found on B/D series motors available in Integra and Civics
