I have been having intermittent problems with the keyless lock-unlock not working. When I approach the car, touch the handle, even pull it remains locked. I have new batteries in the remote. Similarly, it does not seem to lock by pressing the handle like it used to. I am no longer under warranty and was hoping to hear anyones elses experience, before I spend the money to have the dealer diagnose.
Is there a common fuse box where I could check for blown fuses? Any help would be appreciated as this is one of my favorite features.

 

Maybe it needs reprogramming?

Is there anything in the manual about that?

 

did you have the handles replaced? there was an issue with many 05s related to the keyless lock/unlock. I had mine replaced early on. There might be a TSB on it.

 

A year ago my passenger side door handle wouldn't lock when pressing the dimple. It was replaced.

A month ago the driver side door handle exhibited the same problem and it was replaced. A couple weeks ago the passenger side door handle wouldn't open, but would lock.

I just got it back tonight after almost three days at the dealer.

In each of my cases the problem was most apparent after the car was washed or after prolonged wet weather.

It's a known issue.

 

Thanks for the responses. I recently purchased this car so I do not know if they have previously been replaced. Both the passenger and driver handles seem intermittent. There was nothing in the manual about reprogramming and the settings seem to all be correct. Maybe I will just try resetting the keyless settings (sort of a reboot) just in case - works with desktops.

We have had alot of snow and slush weather and now with clear weather it seems to be working ok. Sounds like the handles just need to be replaced. Were there any other components replaced other than the handle which corrected your problems?

 

I suspect your handles were a problem from the get go and previous owner did not have them replaced. Not sure how long threads are kept on this site, but there were lots of threads early on (2005) about this problem. You should be able to find out from the dealer whether they were replaced.

 

As for resetting the handles, it is not something you can do. The dealer has a special tool/tablet that they connect to the car to communicate to the various components of the car. That's how they "reboot the component".
