Wood shift knob
For those of you that bought the wood shift knob, how well did it match the wood in your car. I just got one and was disappointed it was a shade or two darker than my wood.
Thanks

Three Wheelin'
Yes, mine also matches. I think dealers should throw it in with car as a "free" incentive. It does improve the interior in a subtle way.

Mine just arrived today - bought it on eBay from an Acura dealer. I don't like the match either. The part number on the box is 08U92-SJA-200. Is this the same number that those of you with perfect matches have?
Also, the shaft of the shift knob is chrome, not "satin" like the OEM. Same with yours that match?

I returned to the dealer yesterday and the Service manager brought out to the car the three remaining they had in stock. None were a perfect match. On two the color match was better than my original but not perfect. I picked the one where the grain matched the best. It looks better but not perfect.
Yes the part number matched what is above and the base is chrome.

Thanks jfprl, and everyone who responded. I'll retrun it to the dealer and hope for a better match.
This is an example of an item best bought locally (where you can see what you're getting) rather than over the Internet as I did.

The wood in the RL is curly maple. Anyways, it shouldn't surprise anyone that the wood on the dash and the wood on the shift knob may not match - they're real wood and the fact that the shift knob is optional means that it may not have been cut from the same specimen as the veneer on the dash; ie both were not processed from the same wood at the same time.

phile is exactly right, so today I went to a local dealer who had a siuft knbob that matched my wood trimmuch better.I swapped it fr the ne I bought mailorder and problem solved.
HOWEVER, after a lot of twisting I got the old shift knob off, but the new one doesn't seem to "grab" onto anything when I try to thread it onto the shaft, it just keeps turning. Is there a trick to this or am I missing a plastic bushing of some sort?

There isn't any trick to it - it just turns to go on and off. Does the original (leather) shift knob twist on without problems? If so, just go back to the dealer and try to swap with another one with match that will go on properly.

Why don't you go with a Momo knob like this one www.ltbmotorsports.com/coballook1.html I installed one in my 2000RL and I loved it! It has a universal attachment so the thread does not match but it mounts solidly and it feels great. I'll sell you my 2005 RL knob if you want it.
