what i dont like about my RL

Number one....The doors are heavy, they are awkward to open, they don't hold open well...the hinges look flimsy....i dare not let a 200 lb person sit on my doors.

I don't like the noise from the factory sunroof spoiler.

Don't like the drive by wire. If your cruising down the road cruising at about 40 -50 mph and decide to floor it. It takes awhile to get the message, and once it does it doesn't translate very well. Hard application of power makes the car feel awkward at times.

What I do like...i like the nav...the sound system...the quality of the leather...the paint quality...the body quality including fit and finish...seat comfort...look of the factory wheels....bluetooth...voice commands...price, value...very quiet car, almost no wind noise...ride quality...absolutely phenomenal handling.

In the end the "likes" have it by far and am happy with the car.

This reminds me the stupid MB C-class commercial. A 200lb man sit on the door? That's just plain gayish. It would sound much better to have two 100lb hot chicks sit on the door.

DON'T EVEN MENTION THE STUPID HEAVY DOOR!! My thumb was caught and now it hurts like hell. Throbbing pain and looks like 50% of my thumb nail is black and blue.

Those heavy doors are part of the reason why the RL got top marks in crash ratings.

heavy doors also mean the car is constructed well.

I don't think the problem is that the doors are in fact heavy. I think it has more to do with the detents in the doors that assist in closing and keeping them open. If you aren't able to get the door open enought to hit a detent, it wants to close again. Great idea, bad execution!

I agree the doors are heavy, but on the flipside they really impress all my passengers. The solid thunk sound is nice.

Heavy is a relative thing. Having lost 25 pounds this year in training for triathlons, I can attest to that first hand.

I think the RL's doors are appropriately solid. Kind of like my midsection.

I do not find the doors heavy.

I also find that MB commercial to be one of the most retarded things I have seen on TV. What's great is you know there will be all the idiots who will go and sit on their door and it will probably break. Stupid MB.

Surprised the postor likes the stock wheels. To me, they are a major dislike.
but Acura usually uses ugly wheels, esp the cheap painted ones.

TL Captain, so you know, using 'gayish' as a negative comment, is a slur.
Acura...Advance.

They impress me with their willingness and ability to close with the lightest touch. However, to the uninitiated it does seem like the door is heavy (especially with the handle being so close to the hinge). They need a "de-bounce" so that when someone opens them they don't swing right back after hitting a detent.

Kidding aside, compared with the super-light trunk and hood, the doors *are* surprisingly chunky. I like having that metal between me and the next fool. I don't like having them stealthily swing closed on my leg.

I've had the doors "come back" on me a few times, which is annoying.

Also, the throttle gets"confused" sometimes, usually when I stomp on it to get on a ramp.

The "automatic door-closing" feature on the RL is also present on the TL. Its doors are heavy as well and there's more than one thread on the TL side about upset spouses who've had the door shut on their legs.

I've been driving Acuras for so long that I'm just used to the feature and the heft of the doors, I guess.

I finally saw that MB ad others are referencing, with the four guys sitting on the door. All I can say is: ooooookay. (OT: that was a pretty good brand marketing ad...."Why do we do all this testing? Because we promised you a Mercedes-Benz!"...hopefully the quality will improve....)

Since the original question was "don't like" then here are mine:
Ugly wheels.
Headlight chime and seatbelt chime.
No TPMS in cruise.
No torque vector info in cruise.
Should have stock wood st wheel and shift knob.
No cooled seats.

BTW - love the car, I like exclusivity so I am glad that the RL doesn't sell like a G or M35/45.

This is the first time I heard someone complain about the doors. I LOVE them. I love the fact that they open to a full 90 degrees. I love how they can be opened at various degrees and STAY locked in that position. I can squeeze out of the car and not worry about dinging it on my garage door because of this nice feature. So I have to disagree on the hinge comment...

I wish the RL had RDS on FM and stereo on AM. Also, the AudioPilot is less than worthless. SVC would be better.

06 will not, at least with the ACC. I am assuming cruise is no different, although I cannot really tell from the manual. Instead of ACC and the speed selected, what does it say. "Cruise" or something similar?

Anybody with an 07 and an 08?

Ditto 07 - don't know about non ACC cruise - never used it - why would you? If the weather is bad enough to be falsing the ACC you probably shouldn't be using cruise anyway.

I assume if there IS an tire pressure problem it will overide the display and warn you.

Are you asking about viewing individual tire pressures while cruising? If so, I have an '07 and it displays them. Just press press the middle button when the TPMS menu is displayed.

Here's what I don't like....
No bluetooth connection indicator, like in TL
NAV is very slow to boot up. (must be windoze)
Very poor backup camera. Honda could learn from Nissan on this.
HVAC in manual mode. In the TL you could change modes or recirculate the air and the system would still automatically control the fan speed. Not so in RL, take it out of auto and you are in full manual mode.
No cooled seats

This is more of a request.... I would like to see the shifter paddles be programable when not in manual mode. For instance, while cruising they could be radio seek +/-. Or, when using NAV, they could select letters and enter them. They could have various uses depending on the mode. They could be so useful, but seem to be wasted the majority of the time.

Still the best car out there for the money. It just could be a little better. Can't wait for the '09!

05 - The MID only displays Range, Average and a couple of others because the MID has half of the screen showing "CRUISE". Therefore it will not display TPMS or Vector torque. If they has an amber LED for Cruise enable, which turned green when it was engaged, it would then have the room to display normally as in when Cruise is not engaged. Is it confirmed that the later models do not function this way? (Not a ACC issue, just Cruise).

db22 - No it does not work this way. Cruise "engage" is a small white rectangle in the upper right quadrant of the lower portion of the MID. I think it blanks out when cycling through MID options.

I have a 5.5 hour trip home tomorrow, so I can check it throughly then. But, I know I can get to all functions while cruise is engaged.

my mid displays the cruise control status, while I can access my tire pressures seemlessly on my 07 non-tech RL.

Interesting.

06 ACC does not allow tire pressure to display simultaneously. I suppose they need the real estate for showing the target acquistion and the distance keeping (2.0, 1.5 or 1.0 seconds) behind the target.

Does it work if you put the car into regular cruise mode instead of ACC? You can do that by holding the distance keeping button down for a couple of seconds - the car will then turn off the ACC and enable "regular" cruise control. My 05 wouldn't display tire pressure in the MID with the cruise control on.

I love the door's auto close feature. Maybe because I'm lazy, or am getting lazier as a result of this technology. It's pretty stylish to just open the door enough, walk out and don't even look back and walk into the fancy restaurant and have the door close on the slow valet runner as I toss him the key fob. <sigh, the days of being a valet runner.>

No. In the 05 RL, when cruise control was enabled, you could not get to the tire pressure monitor screen in the MID. I tried it last night in my 06 w/ ACC and I could not get to the tire pressure monitor in the MID with either ACC or regular cruise control enabled.

In my '06 (non-CMBS), I was able to see the tire pressure info on the MID with the Cruise Control enabled and activated.

So now we have some that can and some that can't but it's not related to options or year?
I'm confused.

Looks like it's related to whether you have the "intelligent cruise control". With it, no tire pressure; without it, tire pressure.
