What does this mean for Acura?
What does this mean for Acura?
To the Mods, this may be better served elsewhere, but this is the only part of the forum that I usually look at.
After reading this article and all the hoopla about bigger engines in the RL (possibly using the V10 from the NSX)) can we have any faith that Acura will be doing much regarding the future of the RL? or for that matter the Acura brand?

If you look at the latest annual report from Honda, their car focus is on hybrids, clean diesel (mostly for Europe), and fuel-cell vehicles. There is barely any mention of Acura. Honda will slowly expand the Acura brand, but it is not their top priority, and I don't think it ever was. Honda Motor Corporation is an engine company, not a luxury-car company. The fact that Acura has been around for over 20 years and has never produced a full-sized luxury car with a V8 or larger engine is an indication of this. There might be V10 engines someday, but that is not the overall Honda focus.
The hoopla about bigger engines and RWD mean absolutely nothing. These rumors have surrounded Acura and the RL for over ten years, and both generations of the RL. So far, none of these rumors have come true.
As far as fuel efficiency, the TSX is the clear winner of the Acura cars. I frankly expect to see hybrids in the Acura line before V10s.
