Well not quite an owner (yet), and only 49.

I’m the ‘kid’ around my neighborhood, and every time I suggest a high-tech car to someone, they start babbling about how hard it is to learn all this stuff, or how dangerous it is to be distracted by the toys while driving (I think they have a point there), but then that’s what voice commands are for ;-)

This poll is also skewed by the fact that the participants are tech savvy enough to participate in online forums. You’d be surprised at how many folks (even those well under 50) haven’t even heard of forums, much less participate regularly in them, so take the results with a pinch of salt.

This was me exactly. 29 when i got the car 30 now. Traded in a 2000 TL and it was also the natural next step up.

Holy thread revival, Batman! Now I'm 40.

I hadn't even voted in the poll I added to this thread.

Guess I don't understand the grandpa image. I'm almost 63 and the RL is the slowest vehicle in my garage. Of course the others have only 2 wheels.

Im 22 and just got it a few months ago. I was going to purchase a TL but then i discovered Acurazine.... saw the RL photo gallery (touge and ambiguous626) and immediately changed my mind. I wanted a car that wasnt all over the streets. I also loved the interior and SH-AWD closed the deal!!

Bought mine just over a month ago at age 26. I was coming from a Honda Civic (I called it my perriwinkle racer) and did a lot of research before pulling the trigger. The "bang for the buck" was unbeatable and I certainly didn't think it looked like a "grandpa" car. Still need to put some money into mods to make it look a little more aggressive but want to be sure that it stays looking as classy as possible. I think the drop and rims will be step one. In any case, love the car and definitely appreciate the site and all the members!

65 - 64 when purchased.

I liked the looks of the vehicle, all the standard goodies and the price. Besides, it just seemed like a natural "Acura progression" from a CL to TL and finally a RL.

Age: 24 << one of the younger guys (makes you wonder why no female RL owners) << FIRST POST!!

Just got my '05 three weeks ago for 18,200 @ 89,000 mi. I'm surprised at the depreciation of this thing. Just barely starting to get acquainted with the car and searching for all the pieces of the car to get accustomed with. Glad I found this forum and read into many angles of the KB1 before my purchase, but I was pretty dead set on this car. The salesman tried to steer me towards a TL, but I said that the RL is all I'm interested in.

Age: 28. Picked it up as a new lease at 26 but love it so much I just recently bought it/paid it off and will keep this one for quite some time.

Previously had a used '95 Legend, '96 3.5RL, and '99 3.5RL with several 'german' cars after but the Acura gods were calling me back.

I went from a TL to a RL for my 24th birthday....I feel more mature now lol...actually the TL made me want to speed too much, I'm more into the ride with the RL. I think my life span has expanded by 10 years as a result of the TL to RL switch.

I just turned 30 - bought the RL around my birthday.

I bought the RL to replace my 2003 TL-S. Looked at a Lexus GS450H, TL Type-S, RL and M45.

Dollar for dollar the RL could not be beat. The car is little bit slower than the others I looked at, but given that I hardly speed and sit in a lot of traffic - I favored the RL over the others. As far as the exterior, it's different but I like it.

Interesting. I'm 35 and everyone I see driving another RL around Chicagoland is at least 10 years older than me... Not that I care, I love it!

I wanted the best handling and luxurious car for the money. I have had other sedans, Jags, Infiniti's, Mercedes, Cadillacs, etc. and felt that my new 2008 RL Tech was the best alternative at this time, much better than my last two TL's. I also have a Mercedes convertible to play with too, but the ride is much more comfortable in the RL.
Oh, by the way I am 60 now but feel like 45. No, not a grandfather yet, either.

I dont think my RL is a grandpa car. I bought my nbp Aspec in 2005 and i was 19 when i bought it. I had a 2004 TL and loved it, then the dealership called and told me to come down and look at a car they had just got in. I pretty much took it home that day it blew my old TL away in every way especially quality. I especially love being able to pull out in fast moving traffic when the roads are wet without worrying about getting rearended anymore.

I agree that this poll isn't indicative of the RL owner base (at least the first owners). I know far more 50+ year old RL owners than I do below-40.
