Warranty Maintenance

2005 RL 35K miles - Just had a sudden stoppage (no noise, just quit).
All valves were replaced (under warranty), but no one seems to know why the valves were "bent." Anyone have this problem? Note: The timing belt showed wear, but was not broken. Performance was excellent until the engine stopped.

The only way I know that valves can become bent, is that the pistons come in contact with them. I'll bet the timing belt jumped a notch or two throwing the cam timing off resulting in damage.

First owner and always drive in the moderate category. If high-rev limiting took place, it was not noticed. Again, the engine stopped quitely and suddenly, ALL panel lights aglow, on the road at about 35 MPH. No rattle, no noise, good gas mileage, like-new performance, etc.
One remarkable thing is the stoppage was precisely at the end of an ILS runway. Could the engine controls have been modified by some sort of radiated signal related to the airport's radio/navigation/control systems?
An attempt to restart the engine did give up a "singing" sound, but the engine did not restart and the car was towed to the shop.
The shop said they found compression issues and "some" bent valves. They decided to change all 24. They also said there was no visible damage to the pistons.
Can radiated signals effect the computer? What are some likely results? Are these results apt to bend valves?

Had to be a timing issue, almost positive it is mechanical, your dealer almost has to know because Honda will want to know. Can you talk to the tech or service manager, we would like to know?
thanks

A little surprised to read about this. J-series engines are pretty much bulletproof ordinarily. Good luck with the repair!

From the mechanic through the manager and on up to Honda... all have been questioned about the valve replacement. No joy. They simply do not know. Note: A request to view the extracted parts was too late... they had already been returned to Honda.
Worrisome is the notion that after the warranty there may be more issues.
