Warranty Advice Used 06RL

I bought a used 06RL with 34K miles. Wanted to get warranty to 100K, but the dealer wanted $4,000 for that, which seems like robbery to me, so I turned it down.
How do I get warranty for this -- does Acura sell it or should I go to one of those aftermarket warranty providers and take my chances dodging the scammers? Any insight would be appreciated.

There are vendors on this forum and the internet who sell AcuraCare extended warranties. Some states (such as Florida) only allow in state vendors to sell such warranties.

You should be able to get an extended warranty for at least half of that dealer's quote.

Although your RL is still under factory warranty, I would strongly advise you obtaining an extended warranty before the factory warranty expires. The RL is a very reliable car, but technology and engineering components are very expensive should you have issues beyond the initial warranty.

It is also a good idea to research the TSBs and power steering recall for the RL and see if any apply to your VIN. Make a list, copy the TSBs and take the RL to a dealer you want to build a relationship with and get the RL tip top and you will better set for trouble free ownership.

I kinda ran into the same thing. I got my 2006 RL from the dealer and got the warranty that day. The person selling me my warranty (7/100,000 mi) sold it to me for $900.00 (Acura Care). He showed me the price if I waited came back the next day and bought it. $4,000.

What ever you do, Get a warranty for peace of mind, if anything. Good luck.

It would be wise to listen to Tampa, he is consider AZ "Gandalf the Grey" as his wisdom and knowledge of RL's has still cese to amaze many.

Also try to contact Greg (might be to late, but worth a shot) for more infomation on Acura Care Warranty discounts.

With me driving about 30k miles a year I will take the gamble that in 20-months I won't spend the price I pay for an extended warranty on that much corrective maintenance. My '06 powertrain is covered until 70K miles anyways. Like any insurance policy it's a gamble.
