Cool Vtec

When does the Vtec kick in with the RL?
at 4800 rpm, at 5000rpm?

Also why does the transmission shift early at 6400 rpm when the throttle is fully open?
In the manual mode, it will go all the way to about 6800 rpm.

Is there any way to adjust when Vtec kicks in and when the transmission shifts via an aftermarket ecu program of some kind?
Thanks all, in advance.

The 3.5 engine VTEC changeover is at 4950 RPM.

I can't think of any reason to change the engagement RPM if you are running stock.

VAFC-Neo will allow you to change the vtec engagement RPM. Runs about $300 new and you'll need someone to splice into the ecu for you unless you get someone to make you a PnP harness

But seriously, why? I could see the need if you were heavily modded, but otherwise I would trust the Honda engineers to choose the right engagement point.

the key is the right engagement point for fuel economy, this is no race car.
