There is a thread around here where someone had a loose wire on the AWD.

had this twice!!! for me both times was a SPEED SENSOR. take off each wheel and check if any of the speed wires are damaged or sliced or tangled.

It was the speed sensor thanks everyone! scanned the car and i also need a new battery, my current battery is only 2 years old, and its honda battery. now i am getting a Optima Red Top size 25, any reviews on this battery?

- Next i have to find out which one it is, cuz they look ok. The SnapOn hand tool could not tell me which wheel is bad. Is Acura service the only place that can find out?

Many complex diagnostics can only be diagnosed with Honda's HIM systems. A generic code reader will only capture higher level diagnostics.

However, there are Honda & Acura specific products on the market for reasonable cost....I am just unsure if these too cover all the system diagnostic a dealer can capture.

Optimas are good, so are Bosch and Diehard. RL's are extremely flakey when it comes to erratic voltage. My '05 went through 3 batteries in the four years I owned it (live in Dallas and have extremely high temps). I always tell other Acura folks down here to have their battery checked every 18 months.

Honda did the best they could with the battery technology at hand. With so many electronic gizmos on-board, it really does need a battery with higher voltage. With the next generation model, it won't be an issue since it'll have Li+ batteries.

As for the current generation, invest in something with a long warranty and available close by. That way, it can be easily swapped out. Guy up in Plano (just north of Dallas) bought the Platinum Diehard and I think it has an 84 month warranty. He just drives in to Sears, they check it and replace it as necessary with little out of pocket.

We talked about those cheap copy Honda diagnostic tools in another thread. I was ready to order one when I read a post about a guy who used one that caused an error and all his dash lights started to flash. He reset the connection at the battery and it was fine, but that kinda scares ya. They say it does not work well and I'm afraid it's not worth the risk. If someone else knows otherwise, please speak up!

it is most likely one of the front ones. check it by unplugging it and see if there any corrosion inside where it plugs. and check the wires very carefully. these sensors hardly go bad. its usually a wire is spliced by a rock or something.

if you can't find which one, i recommend you goto a honda dealership and ask for a diagnostic test, most likely cheaper. same computer. but most likely a Honda specialist local shop will have a computer and do it for less than the $125 at acura.

the speed sensor is very very very easy to swap out. do not pay for labor. the part is very very expensive though.

.
I think that you meant to say higher current. Lead Acid batteries are 2.1v per cell in series of 6 cells = 12.6 volts. The current is what is required and until the maximum available has been reached, the voltage will stay the same. This theory does assume limits of temperature, specific gravity readings, alternator availability etc.. Current availability is usually denominated as Cold Cranking Amps so buy a battery with the most CCA's.

The next generation will probably use Li batteries for propulsion but will probably still use a lead/acid for system handling including starting. Thinking that the next generation will have alleviated the battery problem is like assuming a gas delivery tanker will never run out of gas!

BTW I am on my second battery in 7 years and both batteries were "Acura" from the dealer. When you buy from the dealer, not only does it fit but it's got the best warranty so you will never pay for another new one.

I think doing burnouts in 2wd will twist/break something. too much power going to the front. but anyone is welcome to test it. i encourage it!

Just a side note with the Bosch batteries: I installed one as a replacement to the OEM battery, the battery posts sit towards the outside of the car, as opposed to towards the engine like OEM. I have to do some cutting for the negative post on the battery cover. The Bosch battery isn't direct PnP, although it is great, car starts on a dime now!
