Unlock all 4 doors from drivers side?

Perhaps I am just overlooking something, but is there a way to program the car to unlock all four doors when you touch the drivers side door handle? I know it does it from the pass side. I thought this would be programmable in the MID but I didn't see it - and I am not near the car to get the manual.

Yes, through the MID you can program the door locks to open all at once or just the drivers door. I did it and it works correctly

Would be nice most of the time, but I don't think I would want that. It would make it too easy for an unwanted passenger to hop in.

Can someone help me with how to do this? I just picked up a 2005 and I dont get what the "MID" is in order to program so all the doors unlock. My car did not come with a manual either. Thanks

Tom,

The MID (Multi-Information Display) is the LCD in the center gauge. It is operated by the steering wheel toggles on the bottom right.

Press and hold the center toggle button and you will activate the menu directory. You can drill through them, but the amount of customizable features can be mind boggling, even with a manual in hand. Often owners believe there is a defect in a feature when in fact it is how the customization is set.

I suggest you register your RL on MyAcura.com. It will give you user tips on the features as well as downloadable pdf copies of both the Owner's Manual and Navigation Manual. Without these, the RL features can be baffling. I assume you also do not have the Quick Start Guide, including HFL use? The Acura HFL site is
http://www.acura.com/handsfreelink.aspx and will aide you with phone models and carriers per model / model year.

Enjoy your RL!

Wow great info thank you! I actually just changed a bunch of settings to my preference! I actually had the dealer I bought the car from order me a manual set free of charge too because I know there are a lot of things I dont even know about! Thanks very much! Now I have to deal with the whining noise I hear on the highway!

That sounds like the notorious propellor shaft bearing whine. It affectly mostly 2005, early 2006 and a sprinkling of other model year RLs. Most likely to rear it's vocal self when weather turns colder.

Is your RL CPO? It is likely out of OEM warranty unless you bought it with an extended warranty in tow, or it was CPO. It is not known to be damaging, but audibly annoying. It is roughty an $1800 replacement if not warranted.

I'd press your Dealer to address it especially if you purchased CPO.

Yeah as long as its not going to cause damage it wont bother me too much. I bought the car from Autolenders and I was actually looking into getting an extended warranty from Acura since the local Acura dealer said I was able to. I guess I should maybe get the warranty then say hey.. fix this haha!

I dont know if its just me bc I am coming from a Z06 Corvette and a Lexus IS but the transmission in the RL seems a little slow and abrupt. I can feel it downshift and going from Reverse to Drive seems a bit lazy. Is this normal?
