Tints with the Shades and toddler
Tints with the Shades and toddler
Hey guys searched through the forum and Google and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
The sun is bothering my son too much and looking for pics of the RL with 20% and 35% tint with all the rear shades up (preferably when it is sunny out). Illinois law only allows 35% all around but I'm willing to chance it if 35% with shades will not cut it.
TIA

How is this? I took a bunch of pics after I got my car tinted... with shades up...

I had mine tinted with 3M film, the guy referred to it as "medium". I honestly dont' know if it's 20% or 35% but I suspect it's 35%. to me, with the shades down, the car is not *that* dark, but if I raise all the rear shades, it makes the car look DARK, almost like limo tint.
I kind of like the option to have it not so super dark or very dark, all depending on whether I chose to raise the shades.
the color of your car will affect how dark your tint looks due to the contrast between the dark windows and your paint. i fyou have a pearl white RL, 35% would look much darker than if you had a dark car.
if you want a "dark" looking tint without hte shakes, go for 20% at least, especially if you have a darker color like gray or blue, even lakeshore probably too.
if you hae white or silver, you could probably go with 35% and it would still ook lenty dark.
hope the pics help.
no matter what tint you choose, a good 3M film will have UV protection and will make the car a lot cooler. i dont' think you or your son will notice a huge difference if you are choosing between 20% and 35%. one may look darker than the other once install4ed, but I suspect the heat reduction and shade from each will be similar on the inside...
a tint expert could tell you exactly how much..but I think once it's on you'll be happy with either one. just make sure to get good tint. the cheap stuff will burn and turn purple over time and that just looks tacky.

I have 35% on the sides and 15% in the rear that makes it all look that much darker. When I lived in Illinois (Northern Chicago 'burbs), I never had an issue, but that really doesn't mean anything. I never got pulled over in Illinois, but for some reason my brother always did and he had lighter film on his car.

Thanks you 23109VC for the pics, from the pics it looks like you may have 20%. Someone at my work has 20% and looks almost identical.
Anyone else have pics of 35% with shades.

That way no hassle if you get pulled and you get the sun blockage.
