Do you put in before or after you fill up?

If you pour it in the tank just before you put in the gas, the swirling gives you a certainty that it's all mixed and stirred. If you pour it in afterward, you need to drive it to stir and shake.

Whenever I use Chevron gas, I put it in with the gas as the Techron additive is very difficult to separate after it is mixed in at the refinery.

Once a year,I run a fuel system cleaner through, just to keep things nice and clean. db22 doesn't know that we can buy bottles of "Techron" for this purpose...but that's not the one I use anyway. Lucas works fine for me, and the Acura doesn't have the issues some Mercedes have with additives, so it's really your choice of product.

yea thats why I wanted to check because I heard a lot of mixed feelings but after some research seems that 1 bottle just to clean the system is the way to go, I'm just gonna throw it right before i fill up next time...thanks fellas

I have seen two Techron products.

One is the box of 6 Techron fuel system cleaner bottles for ~$15 at Costco, and the other is at auto part stores, where it is like $8 for one small bottle of Techron concentrate. What's the diff, and which product are you talking about, and do they work?

How is it different than the BG44 stuff the dealer likes to charge you for?

I think a better name would be "How to clean an owners wallet".
