The Chevron techron concentrate bottle was taken off the shelfs here in Canada because of labelling issues.

It just got allowed back on the shelfs, and I am going to stock a couple of bottles for use every 8,000 kms for my RDX. That stuff is awesome stuff. It really does help to clean out the engine fuel system components.
I know that using Top-tier shell does help, but you are still "cooking" gasoline inside the engine, which over time, will have some carbon build-up, though less than cars using non top-tier gasoline. Carbon deposits buildup is an inevitable engine thing...
thus, even once a year use of the Chevron Techron concentrate will be very beneficial to the engine...

But I've heard very good things about techron, too bad its not available to us.

 

Might just use seafoam then if I ever get around to it. at 71k the TL could probably use it.

How can you tell that is does something?

 

If you car is running fine, fuel consumption is as it was when you first bought it, then you can't tell if it was keeping your engine clean.

But my previous bimmer, 330i, after 3 years, was having really poor gas mileage, 30% lower than when it was new, acceleration performance was also significantly less, after 1 bottle of the Chevron techron concentrate, the gas mileage was back to about 95% of when it was new, and it felt way better in acceleration as well.

The stuff really works, but it is not cheap. The other stuff which also really works is BG-44K fuel system cleaner.
