Standard RL vs. A-Spec RL: Which to buy?
I'm looking to make a purchase of an '05 RL this weekend but I have a tough decision.
I can get a killer deal on the Base RL or I could fly to Virgina for an A-SPEC (I live in Ohio). Here's the head to head. What would you choose?
Base
Cost: 20k
Mileage: 59k

A-Spec
Cost: 24k
Mileage: 46k
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...ler_id=1393391
Is the A-Spec worth the extra 4K??? The mileage is also significantly different but what would yall do?
Also consider a flight to VA is $150 (not really a big deal overall but inconvenient as hell)

Three Wheelin'
The A-spec you're looking at has lower miles so that factors somewhat into the $4k cost differential. Of course without seeing the two cars in person, your just assuming the overall physical condition of both cars is the same.
The A Spec has 3 items over the standard RL, namely the wheels, suspension and body kit. I believe the wheels are like $1800, suspension springs $650, and body kit is about $1200 (not including the install cost for the springs which is about $350-400. You could install the body kit parts yourself if your even remotely handy.) If you like the wheels and the way the kit looks (it tends to look added-on on the RL, except that in the dark color its probably the best look for the kit) then go for the Aspec. On the other hand, if you prefer other rims like RonJons, then get the other RL you linked to.

Safety Car
The A-Spec is probably a better deal for an enthusiast...and even for the non enthusiast The A-Spec body kit is gravy, the real meat is the suspension which is springs AND dampers, and the 18 inch wheels which gives you 45 series tires, and a lot more choice in better rubber.

Duh, do you even need to ask?
A-Spec FTW *biased, see sig*
Chas2 is right. In addition, the A-Spec car has fewer miles.

the black RL looks to be in much better condition than the other one, plus the bonus is the A-Spec kit

But seriously....expect lease-return 2006s to start showing up this fall and 2007s next year. This year we're seeing lots of people picking up lease return 2005s.

PLUS the A-Spec having only 46K miles is still prolly under factory warrenty therfore you can get a extended acura warrenty which in my mind is worth the 4k in piece of mind cuz that car has alot of gadgets then are $$ if they break so do yourself a favor and call some acura dlrs in your area and find out how much to extend the bumper-bumper warrenty to 7 years 100k!

Get the A-Spec. From a driving standpoint the A-Spec suspension provides a marked improvement over the base setup.
As noted by other members, the A-Spec is still under the factory warranty and is thus eligible for extended warranty. This is not a car you would want to own in the absence of a FACTORY warranty.

I would first negotiate to see what the bottom line is for both cars.
Also, if you do not like the A-Spec wheels or body kit, you can save a bit and just buy the A-Spec suspension for $650.00 to your door. Install yourself and save further as install and alignment will not run too much as they just pop in-so to speak. The money saved could be used for some rims you really like. All depends on your priorities.
EDIT: Reviewing the pics, one of the wheels on the A-Spec car is badly chewed up. Factor that into the cost.

I work for a dealership chain in Northern Virginia and one of the stores in my chain has a 05 RL, black, with 19,000 miles and is the same price as that A spec. I would get it myself but that's too rich for my blood at the moment. You should check it out that is unless your completely in love with the A spec now. LOL!
