Yep... We saw this same price from a couple dealers in So Cal same time last year. The '07's are coming in and there isn't even enough room for the remaining '06's.

Which makes me want to say it again.... I really wish Acura would have made a more base model of this car like Lexus and Infiniti did with their cars to have a more attractive MSRP.

This is true, but I mean an even more base model. Like no premium sound, bluetooth, moonroof, etc... things like that. Just like a base GS350 or M35. Acura could then produce just a few hundred of these base models per year just to say they have them. Something that would bring the MSRP down into the low 40's so it would create more showroom traffic. I honestly think that what scares people the most is the $50k MSRP. A lot of people don't understand that the car is already fully loaded and some people just don't want a fully loaded car.

I love the RL. Acura has built a car that IMO blows Infiniti and Lexus out of the water and they don't even know how to make the people aware of it. Acura really needs to step up the PR on this car. A couple commercials here and there aren't going to cut it.

I don't think $50k is the problem. I think poor marketing of what this car has is the problem. So far the FEW TV ads I've seen for the RL emphasize the SH-AWD. Not the luxury, not the technology, not even a "our V6 is as powerful as V8s in the luxury class, saving you gas".

I could market better than Acura is doing. Actually, any of us could. Acura should hire whatever ad agency is handling Honda Britain's account, they come up with awesome ads and they seem to know how to get to the right consumers.

The base model that has been released may itself draw some showroom traffic, though....if only Acura got off their duff and marketed the dang car!

Wish I lived in Cali !. The fully loaded RL is one of the reasons I was attracted to it in the first place. Having a car with no options to worry about makes the buying experience much easier. However even this new base car is quite well equipped if you don't need the nav.

Acura's "marketing" department SUCKS!

Sometimes I wonder if Acura has just gotten cocky. For the most part, the TL, TSX and MDX pretty much sell like crazy with almost no commercials. They can't be under the impression that all their models are just so good that they don't even need to advertise them.

Remember the commercials for the NSX when it first came out? Now those commercials were the type that you would expect from a true luxury car manufacturer. Acura needs to go back to the early 90's.

This is a great deal, essentially it is about $500 into the dealers holdback.

speaking of marketing... you know what is so funny? I have always been in awe about how lexus had headlights that swivled as you turned; and then to find out the RL had the same option, after we bought the car!

Wow. I won't be spending $40K on a car anytime soon, but if I had it to spend ... yikes, my baby would be on the endangered species list.

Although, and no offense to you RL guys, I do wish they'd build the G2 Legends again. I do miss those.

LOL, that's one of the reasons I bit. I traded the TL I loved for an RL because Acura doesn't know what it's selling here at a steep discount!

though these new Legends/RLs are better in many ways. I think that it wouldn't hurt if Acura brought back the Legend name just for this car, that would get a lot of attention. It would separate the RL from the rest of the Acura pack in a good way, in the same way that Chevrolet separates the Corvette from the rest of its plebian offerings. I know that's not Acura's intent with its ten-year-old alphanumeric scheme, but it might sell more cars.
