Servicing Air Filter

Frank,
Do you mean the Engine Air Filter or in the In-Cabin Air Filter?
A single trip through excessive dust or pollen does not mean that you need to change your engine air filter, I normally inspect mine at every oil change to make sure that it is sealing properly. Remember, dirt (Silicon) is very abrasive to upper-end wear (Al, Cr, Cu, Fe) and can ruin your oil analysis results. Paper air filters typically last about 15-20K before they become loaded up with dirt.

I was not aware that the 2005 RL had a cabin air filter so I meant the engine air filter. I was just interested in how to check/replace the filter since there does not seem to be a service manual available for the RL. And if there is indeed a cabin filter, I haven't found it mentioned in the owners manual. If so, I would like to know how to get at it also.
Thanks for the response,
Frank

Air Filter Removal
To get at the air filter, you have to remove the small black covering that's just next to the air filter housing (about 2.5" long & 1.5" wide); its located toward the driver........this just snap right off. Once this is removed...............unscrew the four screws that holds the top section of the air box. Once you get the top of half of the air box off...........carefully move it up & out of the way in order to get at the filter.......re-install in reverse order.
