Annoying XM Radio

There is a discrepancy in the volume levels of different channels and commercials that is driving me up the wall!

Music channels come in at a comparable volume to regular radio and CDs. Talk channels come in at a much lower volume but accompanied of very loud! commercials. It's impossible to listen to talk radio without constantly having to adjust the volume to lower the commercials. This is the reason I dropped Cable TV - why do they have to put us through this? I'm not going to pay more attention to the commercials - I'm just going to cancel the service!

Is this just my radio or are you all experiencing the same?

Does anyone have the Sirius service in another car? If so, are you suffering from the same volume annoyance? I would consider switching to Sirius if they don't have this.

I too am having problems with XM and my problem is loosing the freaking signal constantly. I have a dish in the house and get Sirrius and I find it far superior to XM. Naturally I inquired into changing to Sirrius, and was told it could not be accomplished. However there may be hope due to Sirrius supposedly buying XM, the perhaps the programming and signal strength will be better

I've noticed this as well. Overall, the production quality of the XM commercials is poor and they are much louder than the programming. Like someone else mentioned, cable TV is the same way. Also, they play the same d@mn commercials over and over again.

Sometimes I switch over to FM radio for a reality check. Then it's not so bad when I switch back to XM.

I have Sirius at home (courtesy of Dish Network) and XM in my RL. I prefer XM over Sirius, given the higher level of "talk" by Sirius in their music channels (evidenced also by recent statements from Sirius' CEO, Karmazin, that they want more "DJ involvement" since otherwise, "Sirius would be no different than playing a bunch of CDs").

Anyway, I do notice a higher volume differential on only one music channel, during one particular host's air time. However, this is a music channel and I don't listen much to the "talk" channels to notice what others are complaining about. This guy appear to be full of himself, likes to get real close to the mike, turns on his bass boost al the way (to sound like those FM jocks from alternative rock radio stations in the 1960s), and talks so loudly between tunes that I, too, have to lower the volume whenever he comments.
