RV6 Parts

So I contacted RV6 performance on the weekend asking about the 2nd Gen RL Jpipe and if they are going to make anymore. In hopes that I could convince them to let me run a group buy on it because options for our car are few and the RV6 stuff is pretty good stuff.

Anyways, didn't even get to ask about the group buy because they are currently producing 100 of them!!! Woot!

Does anyone on here have the RV6 PCD or the HFCC? I'm curious as to the sound that the PCD makes? I don't need to pass a smog test so the better performance and price is really appealing but I also don't want it to sound to obnoxious, I want it to stay a luxury sedan, not turn it into a track car.

To add a bit of insight, on my CL I had headers, stock CC and Greddy evo2 catback. I liked the sound but the drone was way to much for me on a DD.

There are a couple videos. Search "j-pipe" in the main RL forum. It was all the rage when it was new.

It's too bad they don't make a j pipe for a 2009+ RL. Can't blame them, there were only about 5500 KB2s with a J37 sold in the US.

If stock exhausted you'll hardly notice the pcd. You will be able to hear what sounds like valves ticking or hissing with the hood popped but not noticeable when driving.

My bad Nersh, I read j-pipe, not PCD.

A few people do have them as 253 noted. The TL forums probably have a few videos.

Almost forgot I have a few vids on YouTube from a while back when I installed the pcd and jpipe.

Here's one.

Watch "05 RL/Legend RV6 pcd/jpipe" on YouTube

253RL, did you not have issue with the smell and little bit of rasp?

No rasp no smell that I smelled or anyone who rode with me mentioned. I also had Tanabe medallion mufflers which cut out any rasp anyway. Possible rasp with custom exhaust like I have now with straight pipe. Will know whenever I get a set of pcd. For now here is my setup. 3rd cat delete and removed rear mufflers. Sounds great no rasp not loud. Will possibly remove 2 of the resonators as I like it a bit more snappy than it is. This is just to hold.me over until the v3 jpipe is released. Acura RL 3rd cat delete and rear muffler delete:

little quiet for me. But good quiet I guess. You hear the air box resonator delete more than the exhaust.

I know some of RV6's other parts had improvements with later versions but haven't noticed anything on the different versions of the j pipe for the RL.. Are there in fact any differences between RL j pipes or no??

He said he was designing v3 for ground clearance only. Never had an issue with clearance but good people always want to improve their product.

253RL,
hearing your car makes me want to go back to pcd and go with your setup.
i'm really curious that you didn't notice any smell in the cabin when car was stationary.
I was really annoyed with smell specially during winter to run the car to thaw while removing snow/ice.
Maybe I'm too sensitive.... I have to be extra careful due to our little princess.

I didn't notice a smell. If you have children probably best to just run hfpc so they don't breathe in anymore pollutants than they already do.

You'll have no clearance issue with aspec setup.

that's why he makes high flow cats too...
so, you have options to either go all out and get straight pipe or a lower cell count cat..
