RV6 AWD RL Long Tube J-Pipe Release!
#201
Since this pipe results in a catylitic converter being deleted, I'm guessing it will not be carb legal. My understanding is that carb allows cat BACK exhausts, but it does not permit any modification of the smog devices...so no cat removal.
Would a smog station visually see that a cat is gone? Maybe. Even if a car can pass a sniffer test, CA has a visual inspection that precedes the sniffer test. So if they see a mod, they automatically fail you....you never even get to the sniff test. It's stupid because some mods would not affect the emissions and the car would have passed the test...but they fail purely due to a non OEM part.
In CA, an intake is illegal unless specifically tested and approved by CARB. a cat back exhaust is ok, but headers...which would remove or alter the cats is not..unless the part is specifically tested by CARB. it's not cheap to do the testing and approval process so many manufacturers don't bother with the process as they wouldn't recoup the money. So you wind up with parts that will not hurt emissions...the car can still pass a sniff test, but the car will automatically fail the visual inspection due to a non approved part. Totally backwards! Makes no sense to fail you for a part if the car runs clean!
If a smog tech is lazy they might not catch it, but they could. Upside is that this part sounds pretty easy to swap in and out. Smog tests in ca are every two years...so once you smog, put it in and forget about it for two years. I doubt a police officer would bother hassling anyone for this part during a routine traffic stop. They typically only look for smog violations on highly modded cars or when they do mass busts at illegal street traces.

Of batch 2 we sold 3 of the 5 we are running out of AWD TL jpipes to modify to RL. These might be the last ones for a 2-4 months.
Definitely not CARB, passing depends on your inspector and how much they know about the car.
No sensors = no CEL
You Sir are spot on.

23109, look at the picture of the two pipes next to each other? Is the visual difference enough to be recognized by an inspector? I wouldn't know since we don't have them, but I thought I remember seeing a piece where the third cat should be that resembles a cat.
EDIT: Scratch that. It is a pretty big difference.

It will only definitely fail the visual inspection of a competent inspector. It may or may not fail the sniffer test.
Whenever someone here needs to pass a borderline car, they just find a good 'ol boy shop looking for money and not issues. Being in TX, those are a dime a dozen.

Its not like our towns where the sticker is a free pass.

I should get mine tomorrow according to Fedex.. But yeah I'm curious as well.. the reviews on them have died down this week..
It does say there is 1 more left on your website Richie, I'm just assuming that's an error??

I got mines but haven't got the change to install it yet. If its everything L's said, then I will be happy with it. For double the price of an AEM intake, this mod is a no brainer.

You've got me tempted to pick up the HFPCs Rich! been reading great things about them on the 4th and 3rd gen TL side. That might be a summer mod if I get this raise at work.

still trying to find time to install the thing... but just to make sure my subjective review of the pipe will be decent, i have been flooring it around town

Working out wondefully. No leaks and the power only got better I've wowed a few people who were in the car, especially with putting their heads into the headrests at WOT. The RL couldnt do that before.

sorry man, I can't help it. Everyday when I get off the train, and get in my car, I keep the door open when I start it to hear the sweet sound of glory when the 6 cylinders pump the gases through the Jpipe. Its like music! then immediately after I turn out of the train station, there's an off ramp for me to get onto the parkway. I no longer waiver for fear of the oncoming vehicles running into the back of me, I just downshift to second gear and I went from 30-80 in an instant. Doesnt help theres a tunnel right there too so the sweet sound of echoes to the other cars "move the F out the way"

So I went to order one today and it said "it's a preorder". How long will it be before another batch is ready? I'll pay for it but would like to get an idea as I'm in the process of selling my house and moving...

I believe Richie said it's another 2-4 months away but that's just an estimate. I wonder if the 3rd batch would be different since Richie always updates his products after receiving feedback..

I have a stock exhaust video on the previous page. I plan on making another, better quality one when my cousin has his wife brings their camcorder over this weekend
I've spoken to him through PM, email, and phone/text. He gets REALLY busy sometimes and takes a couple days to respond and other days he responds right away.
