Rubber under tire well separating

Hello Guys the black lining that runs along the wheel well is peeling at the corners from the metal.

Do you know what kind of adhesive i can use to hold this back in place? I went to auto zone and was told that J-B Weld cold -weld steel reinforced Expoxy would work? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks

Take to body shop. Get expert opinion. The guys at auto zone just want to sell you something. Never use jb weld unless you know what your doing.

JB Weld also makes something permanent. If you're talking about the plastic wheel well shields, that's something that may need to be removed for service in the future. I can't think of anything in the wheel well that is rubber or glued into place. The wheel well shields are held in place by screws and clips.

^+1 Agreed

OP have you had recent service or any work on the front end near that wheel? Guessing there might be some clips might be missing.

Do you mean the rear wheel wells or the front? The front is held by all clips and the rear is held by clips and adhesive. I'm guessing you probably meant the cloth rear well liner?

If it's peeling, I would clean the back of the it really well and apply some industrial adhesive (preferable 3M)

I am speaking of the rubber that runs along the wheel well frame...its about 1/2 inch wide strip. Not the cloth panel held by clips under the shock area....

I just looked at my car and there is no such strip of rubber. Is it possibly an added on fender trim guard?

Mine is doing the same thing on the passenger side.
Found various threads around here that said to completely remove them since they seem to encourage rust... which is in fact the case on mine.

Mud flaps are a personal choice but even in GA they may come in handy from time to time as you do have mud/clay there too - right??

You need to take these off.
I live in Canada and come winter when they salt the roads for ice melting, the water/salt combination get wedged between the rubber lining strip and the wheel well lip - this causes the rust process.

You are doing more good by taking it off then leaving it on.

It is a Honda/Acura thing.

Mine did the EXACT same thing on both side shortly after I bought the car. I attributed it to the automatic wash I took it thru right after I bought it. I would advise you to avoid JB Weld, as others have said. Remove it and replace it with a strip of XPEL that wraps around that edge.

Honda wanted to avoid rocks chipping the paint there and triggering rust. Problem is it traps moisture. XPEL prevents said rock chips without running the risk of moisture entrapment. In my area, doing XPEL there costs about 50$ in parts and (mostly) labor for both sides.

Those are the pro-installers in Georgia. I'd assume 3M does the job, but I went with XPEL because they warranty their films longer.

EDIT: The installer should use some bulk film as there is no pre-cut kits for that area.
