RL squealing brakes - resolved
RL squealing brakes - resolved
Acura announced that they recently (June 2006) announced the realease of a replacement brake pads to resolve the annoying brake squealing issues. Previous replacements still causes the squeal as I had them replaced few months ago.
I don't know if you have experience the squeals but I have since I purchased the car. Usually happens at low speed or high speeds (after you have driven for a while before pressing the brakes). It is most annoying when going thru a drive-thru as you are constantly pressing lightly on the brakes with the loud squeal.
I was at the dealers last week for other issues and 'AGAIN' complained about my brake squeal and they told me the newly released pads have been ordered and should be in a few days.
I'll post results.

I had mine replaced last week. They turned the front rotors, and installed updated pads. Hope they are the new, new ones. Part # for the pad set was 45022-SJA-030 (springs 45227-SJA-013)
So far so good. I was worried taking it in because the terrible low speed squealing wasn't present when I dropped off. Was waiting for the dreaded "Unable to duplicate customer concern at this time".

Had mine replaced 2 months ago for all 4 brakes. Since then no squealing, even at low speeds. The dealer also replaced the door handles on the driver's and front passenger's doors since dimple wasn't always working to open doors. They even replaced the 2005 exhaust tips with the 2006 tips at my request
imo the 2006 tips look better although i never had problems with soot or dust collecting on the bumper as other users described with the 2005 tips (my color is lakeshore silver).
TSB for squealing brakes

I wonder if I got the new pads per the TSB or just had them replaced with the same ones that originally came with the car. Would be interested to see that TSB if anyone has a copy.
I doubt if they coated the rotors-any coating would wear off quickly with braking action. More likely they put some silicone grease on the contact points between the calipers and the pads, which is the time-honored way to reduce or eliminate brake squeal. If the pads squeal against the rotor, the only fix is to use a different pad material-I once put aftermarket "performance" metallized pads on my Vovo 850 which worked great but squealed like the dickens. I reverted to stock pads and the squeals disappeared.

Any service bulletins for this

Is this actually a TSB? I have been dealing with the brake squeaks for quite some time now. I just had my B16 service done and mentioned it to service consultant. He said they were unable to reproduce the squeaking. This is soo frustrating because I've been driving my car for almost a year now and I ALWAYS hear it. I'm not sure what to do at this point. For those who have had their brakes replaced, can you post either a TSB or how you went about it?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I need to see the actual pads before I contribute my $0.02. BUt a feqw questions, Do the pads come with shims? Do you use the old shims with the new pads? I have seen some dealers disregarding shims and then you will hear some horrible squealing. If indeed shims are needed, they must be used with new pads. Some pads actually come with new shims...which is nice because shims that have been onpads for awhile are a btch to remove. Also, the lube as described above is placed on the shims which help quite a bit.
