RL Forum Evolves
RL Forum Evolves
original '05 owner and have been monitoring/posting on this forum since the beginning. Interesting how the forum has changed over time. In the "early" days, most of us were posting new discoveries on the car or validating if something was working/not working. Posted a few gripes as well, but I think most of use have been pleased with all the new technologies and overall performance of our cars.
Then there was somewhat of a lull in the forum postings as all of the known quirks were posted and not much new to post.
Then there was a huge spike as the 2009 design was released. Wow - obviously the design evoked a lot of passion - mostly negative (although I think some have softened on their stances).
But what is really interesting now, is the 2nd generation of owners. That is, the people that have purchased used RLs. A new passion has been brought to the board along with what I perceive as a younger set of owners that are much more inclined to mod their RLs than most of us original owners (with the exception of neuronbob and a few others).
I am enjoying hearing from the new wave of owners as they discover many of the nuances that we worked through as original owners.

Well im a new owner of an 05 RL and i've been a member on many honda/acura forums since many of them started. I've always participated and took part in the functions and activities that those sites had to offer and as a new member of this site i will garantee that i will give it my all to help as many Acurazine members and create/take part in many meets/events that i can make it to. Plus im gonna mod the crap out of my RL cause im going for the title of best RL on Acurazine.com!
I'm one of the stunningly youthful owners of a used, cast-off '06 RL, and I love this forum, the information available... and my CPO RL.
Having read most of the older threads before I bought the car, I've seen that evolution and maturing of the forum, and I think all you really old guys with original RL's are responsible for some great content.

getakey, you make an astute observation.
I knew this would happen, though, as prices for used RLs fell. This is indeed a good thing for the forum, as well as for the RL which, while unloved by the masses, has a definite fan base here.
I love mine even though I talk often about CTS-Vs and C63s and S2000s.

If because of age only I guess I would consider myself "old school" frankly with little interest in mods. At the same time it is kind of interesting to see what is important to younger people who can now afford a great car.
My only suggestion would be to consider another sub-forum devoted specifically to mods that are not included in the electronics or tire sub-forums and keep the main forum devoted to fundamental "issues" with stock performance, maintenance, etc.
