RL coupe(pictures)
Is it true that Acura/Honda is making a RL coupe later on? because i've seen pictures of it, but it might just be computer generated. anyway, the RL coupe is said to have 400hp in a 3.5L engine. i think it might be a v8 though..
here are some pictures:

The first one is indeed a photochop done by a member who hasn't been around in a while. The second and third are both concept pictures which should hopefully be pretty good indicators of what the rumored large sporty coupe will look like.
Would think for 400hp you would see more displacement from Honda. Would be a huge jump in specific output compared to any N/A Honda production engines, particularly 6 cylinders. It would set a new mark for specific output in a production 6 cylinder, with exception of the possible 997 GT3 which would be out by then.
BMW 3.2 (S54) 104 hp/l
Porsche 3.6 (996 GT3) 105.5 hp/l
Rumored 997 GT3 engine 115 hp/l
400 hp 3.5 114 hp/l
Further I wonder if Acura will spend the money on a coupe given the current sales (and transaction costs) of the RL now. Seems to make more sense to do a TL coupe ala CL.

I just think with the low sales numbers on the sedan - and in a segment geared towards sedans - this couldn't compete with the BMW 330Ci / Infiniti G35/G37 on the low-end and Mercedes CLK/CLS / BMW 6-series on the high-end.

In most cultures and countries it is considered rude and undignified to ask someone to climb into the back of a car from the front of the car. Hence the expression: 4 seats then 4 doors. Only in the USA would a coupe of this size be sold and the sales of the RL would not support it. The only reason that Honda is OK with the sales is because this car is sold in many countries but this forum only considers the USA.

the el dorado coupe used to sell well back in the day. they were larger than the rl. then you have the lincoln mark VIII which did ok (don't remember the exact numbers but i remember seeing alot of them as a younger kid). the new bmw 6s are large coupes. although they don't sell like hotcakes it's understandable since they're super expensive.
i think they would do ok if they produced either the cl or rl coupe provided they had the power and ammenities to back it up (intelligent cruise/awd/a more active VSA/etc). and i imagine now that acura is dipping into forced induction with the rdx that they will follow that line to get that kind of horsepower out of the J35/32 engines in the future.
just my
