Rev limiter disconnected

2005RL... check everything lights blinked on and the rear windows would not retract from the driver's controls. A $325 switch under the dash was replaced. They had to reprogram the computer so the driver's controls to "recognize" rear windows. Also the remote will (for the first time) lower all of the windows and roof and CLOSE them. My Carolina buddy also deprogrammed the rev limiter. He said "if you blow if up, it's your fault."

I haven't tried it, but I think it would clock the odometer reading now. Ain't going to try it with the stock Michelins on!

WOW. No rev limiter. That would scare me. After all, the RL is no S2000.

Find a tech with the ACURA computer that knows the subcommands. Seems the windows/remote can be programmed for everything or just the sunroof or just one window or whatever. It can also close them!!! But it can't start the car.

Doug told me that Acura had defaulted to "down-only" because it strains the voltage on the system to roll them up. In otherwords, you'll be buying batteries more than normal if you use it alot to close the windows.

Good luck.

Too lazy to look it up right now, but I wonder if we have a long stroke where our motor is "truly" a destroked 3.2 or something.

My guess would be affirmative since the majority of drivers of this car just want power down low.

I'd personally want a lower vtec engagement. Waiting for the J35 to wind-up sometimes results in missing my lane-passing opportunity.

Could Acura have allowed down-only to prevent kids from being caught in windows as they close? IIRC I had Japanese cars where the sunroof required 2 touches for this reason. It would stop partly closed, and then require another touch to close completely.

l would not want the rev limiter disconnected, when I'm driving enthusiastically in manual mode I would often bounce off it and was thankful it was there. I'd be mighty careful!!

Esp with the paddles being attached to the wheel makes it hard to hit them correctly sometimes. Fixed position paddles are better,

While our little sub discussion has nothing to do with the original thread, I don't think so.

The RL has a great safety feature on all window lifts, including the sunroof. It takes the little pressure that you can easily leverage with a little finger to stop the automatic up/close movement.
