If we can get 10 people interested, he'll make it.

Make sure to speak with astro before moving ahead with this.
You can coordinate your efforts with ttk5 who is doing the same thing for TSX in this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-2009-2014-143/%2A%2A%2Amugen-replica-kit-grille%2A%2A%2A-712072/.
Ttk5 quoted a price of $800CDN in his thread, which should be close, but you can check with his source and see if that would also apply to RL's.
If you want to make this a poll like the TSX thread, without the grill (unless you're also considering that) let me know.

one thing to consider is teh overall quality of what this person willmake.
NOT all body kits/components are the same. OEM stuff fits perfect. lots of aftermarket kits fit like crap, have a terrible surface for painting and requires tons and tons of sanding primer to make it paintable.
i had a body kit on a prior car that was NOT cheap - and it didn't fit that well. the body shop that put it on, and had done the exact same kit before on anothe rcar, had to do a lot of prep to make it fit, and even then, some spots were "off"...too big a gap here, to small gap there, edges slighty off. it looked awesome, but if you are picky about the minute details...and on a higher end car like the RL - this stuff would be a deal breaker for me.
is the Mugen kit 100% OEM fitment?
i don't think it's likely that some one is going to take a $2600 kit and suddenly get it to you for $800 and it's going to be just as good as the real thing.
it it's fiberglass, forget it. that stuff sucks.
polyurethane is what you want. and even with poly - theer are different grades/qualities of kits / plastics. they aren't all the same and they sure as hell don't all fit the same.
i'd tell him to make one and let someone be the test mule. if/when the ONE is any good, will the rest of the people pony up money and buy it.
i don't think I'd buy it, but if i was going to buy it - i'd want to SEE if first. especially givenm y past experience with body kits.

If someone is only interested in what the car looks like from 10 feet away and never mind the poor fitment then knockoffs might be for them. Until they hit something and it breaks in half.

If you review the original thread there is a recent response stating that he wasn't wanting to take on the rl just yet. He is planning on doing the tsx though. I think we should try to influence him to change his mind . I would possibley be willing to front significant money to get this going possibley buy some of the kits and resell them? Someone needs to contact this guy and find out what is going on. Also i'm thinking of contacting some other bodykit companies and see if they would be interested.

ok, so I called some body kit companys and all pretty much said the same thing. A Fiberglass kit would be possible for a significant price decrease but as far as the poly kit it would cost almost as much to fab and make as the original kit. Would you guys be interested in fiberglass if it was way cheaper and fit pretty good? Also it might be of more benefit to us if we try to do a group buy on the authentic mugen kit and save some money that way. Your thoughts?

If you guys can get a group discount on the original Mugen kit that would be ideal. I hope this works out for you guys!
#37
Mugen will not offer any discounts. Their prices on the mugen parts have increased and majority of the ppl that have a wholesale account with them that do high numbers get 20% off their parts maximum

Too bad. If money were no object, I would have done this when I had my RL. But nearly $3k shipped, then several hundred $ to paint, then more $ to install.....perfect treatment for a show car, not so much for a daily driver.

i thought the point was this was supposed to be a replica? aka not by mugen.
