Replacement for Acura logo on airbag?

my A logo is scratched and not fully chrome anymore. anyone ever replaced the logo? yes, I realize that tampering with the airbag is dangerous and blah blah blah, but I'm sure its just held in place with mild adhesive.

maybe you should get rid of the crappy brake lines first...and then worry about blowing up the airbag

I saw the replacement logo on ebay a couple weeks ago, I'll see if I can find it again. I'm having the same problem with mine.

the only thing that has me is the rivets parts, i probably wont mess with it (maybe I will, but prolly not):

Heres how to install an Acura emblem;
After you remove the airbag from the steering wheel, take the cover off (requires drilling out rivets with 3/16 drill bit).
Next scrape the white stuff off the back of the old emblem. Then push in the new emblem and melt the little white legs on
the back side with a lighter. You will need to buy new pop-rivets to put it back together. -JJ

ummmmm...... there is a reason for it not being available from the dealer iirc, and that is because it probably is attached to the cover BEFORE everything is assembled, so you might have to pull the airbag assembly out, and then unbolt the bag/explosives from the cover, so you can get to the back side of that emblem in order to melt those "tabs" away, and then "melt" the new ones on (basically melt them so the plastic kinda gives, and expands outwards, so it can not pull through the holes easily)

some just do outside torx nuts, but either way works though, and riveting is a little harder to tamper with though

can I just pretend my car has 70,000 miles on it, wear is normal - and look forward to my next Acura? Or is this one of those when dad finds out I have been playing drumsticks on the airbag in his car he is gonna kill me...

There are millions of Acura cars on the road with shiny logos on the airbag, how did this one get so messed up? Has anybody else got a problem with the emblem?

From what I read its from using cleaners to whip down the steering wheel.

Mine was worn when I bought the car and I wish to change it one day, but messing with an airbag sounds like a job for the pros

I have an '07 with 33k mi and a near perfect looking emblem. The OP should just buy a new steering wheel and make it wood while he's at it.

but the wheel doesnt include the airbag. IF i do swap the logo for a new one, it will be at the same time that I'm swapping out my old wheel for a new wood one though

I understand that its the cleaners we use on our interior that deteriorates the chrome plating.

Figured since more often than not we don't see the back side of the airbag cover, I would snap a pic of what this thread is all about. Taking the airbag out is easy. I did not look at how much it takes to remove the cover. Since mine blew up in my face, seeing the back of the cover was easy.
