Regarding First Service

I am curious what you guys did when the service minder says service soon, A1, yet 15% of oil life left. I have just over 5000 miles and that is where I would usually service oil. Do you wait till is says change or do you service oil now??? Thanks

I servic mine shortly after the 15% warning comes up. I do not like looking at the orange reminder in the dash.

I do the same, for the same reason--every time you try to change to a different display in the MID after a certain interval (30 seconds?), you have to get past the reminder about the oil change. VERY irritating, which is the intent of the message.

Ours just lit up for A1 service at 15% oil life last week at 5200 miles. It's going in on Thursday.

I had 50% oil life left at about 3,000 miles and had it changed since I was at the dealer because the air vents smelled musty at times, although they couldn't smell it. (Like a doctors office, as soon as you go, everything is better.) They put some ozium in the vents and intake and the smell is competely gone.

I also needed the coolant topped off.. at 5% humidity and 115 degrees in Las Vegas, it can evaporate a bit quicker than normal.

Speaking of coolant, what coolant can you uses to top off? I am a bit confused from reading the manual. Doesn't seem to be normal and extended life version. I can't believe it is a totally special coolant, althought the Acura service center thought it was- but I think the guy wasn't very knowledgable being only the service writer vs. a tech.

ALL hondas are special coolant. If you use any others you will rot the system out( I have been told)

I believe the Honda Type 2 Coolant is the blue 5 year stuff. From the 2006 Manual P. 366. I have the same stuff running in my 1995 Legend after they replaced the head gasket.

Always use Honda Long-life Antifreeze/
Coolant Type 2. This coolant
is pre-mixed with 50 percent
antifreeze and 50 percent water.
Never add straight antifreeze or
plain water.
