Rear window electric sunshade stopped working

When I purchased this RL the rear sunshade did not work so the dealer where I bought the car fixed it for free. They said that the original owner had food on his fingers that got into the switch which was total BS. It worked for a while but stopped again. I checked both fuses and they are fine. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can find out the problem and fix it myself. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Yes, because food falls upwards off fingers in an Acura...

It would be helpful if you knew what they'd done.

A tube of contact cleaner may be your friend, though; work your was cleaning through any connectors in the circuit diagram.

IME, the mechanical unreliability is usually down to the crappy little microswitch behind the big button on the roof console. That went on the heated mirror switch on my old Prelude, and I stole a PCB out of an Accord mirror switch. If you can bridge the switch terminal and the blind works, then you will need to do likewise.

However, in this age of over-complex CAN bus stuff, it could be the switch on reverse or anything else interfering with it, so it may not be as simple as that.

Good luck!
