Oil viscosity?

I know I run the risk of getting bagged on but I'm going to ask anyways..

Anyone know why the RL uses such a low viscosity oil?? 5w20?

Do I have to stick with this weight? Or can I use something heavier? I'm due for my second oil change and this one I'm gonna do myself (first one was free from the dealer) and use mobil 1 synthetic with a k&n filter as I do with all my cars after 10k miles or so...

Stay with the stock weight.

Formula 1 uses zero weight.

They have made the engines to run on thinner oil, and perform the same, and last longer for many reasons. Start up causes lots of wear, thinner oil helps here, also better mileage with thinner oil.

FWIW, the 2G Legend was recommended to use 5W-20, and that C32A engine came into service in 1991 time frame.

5w-20 works great in Honda V6 engines. Use it with confidence.

I prefer to use conventional oil, but that's just my personal opinion.

01 3.2 CLs were told to use 5W-30 but 02-03 were switched to 5W-20. all I can see is benefits over thicker oils.

In short, tests have shown that under most operating conditions, a 5w-20 provides excellent wear protection. There's no need to use a 5w-30. A 5w-20 has a few benefits over 5w-30, some of which include improved fuel efficiency, faster oil flow, and a more stable viscosity over the service life of the oil.
