Odd Thing with my '06 - Single Hard Start

When I picked up my 06 back in July, I had to drive it about 1500km/close to a thousand miles back home. On the trip back, the first time I stopped for gas after a few hrs on the highway, when I went to start the car after fuelling up at the pumps it cranked like it was out of fuel and would not start. I shut it off, then tried again and it started instantly.

It has never done this since - at the time since I really had no idea about the quirks of the keyless lock/unlock/entry system and ignition, fob 1 vs fob 2, etc I thought maybe I had left one fob in the car, locked it with the other one and then tried to start it or something....

Yeah the thing is, it has never done this since this one time it happened on the way home, and the car has been driven for longer periods on the highway between stops/starts and in hotter weather as well and it has never happened again. The single time it did happen, the second crank attempt it started instantly, the same way it always has on the first crank.

I am leaning towards the battery maybe, since the car had not been driven regularly at all in months (let alone on a longer trip) before the day I bought it and then hit the road for the trip home.

Could be the battery, they dont have to be dead to cause issues.

When was the battery last changed, if at all?

battery problem after driving several hours and charging? If battery, it would be unlikely to turn over rather than sounding like lack of fuel.

AFAIK, this is still the original battery. I've also heard the electrical system for the Canadian cars is a beefier version?

I had this happen to me one time in my 05, never happened again. Thought maybe I hadn't turned the key enough and maybe didn't fire right, chalked it up that or some bad gas. Wasn't battery related as it was a new battery
