Does anyone have their finger on updated communications between Acura and the dealers regarding the noisy front brake issue and solutions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Are you talking about the "clunk" upon initial startup or another issue?

No. I've recently heard a metallic slapping noise when going over expansion joints at relatively low speeds...30 to 45 mph. It is only noticeable with the windows down, so I've not heard it before. At this point, I'm not going to call what I'm hearing a rattle, but will be paying more attention to it.Originally Posted by feeenux

I haven't worried about it because I already knew that loose pads were widely known about and figured that if I mentioned it to a dealer at a regular service, that a fix was available.
However, Both dealers I contacted about looking at the front brakes told me that they knew nothing about a front brake problem, and that they'd had no customers with this problem. One of them said that if I would fax him some information that they'd investigate further. That dealer mentioned that they knew of a squealing front brake problem that could affect my RL, but I don't have squealy front brakes.
After hearing the noise, I did a search of posts and seem to recall one that Acura had sent out a notification to the dealers about loose front brake pads as far back as November of 2004 (perhaps I'm wrong about this...I haven't tried to find that post again).
Now that I've had the TSB's done, I'll start concentrating on getting this looked at. I'm merely guessing at this point that it's the brake pads since the pads/holders/clips have been widely mentioned on the Acura forums. The most recent post I saw was here and specific part numbers for the holders and clips were posted.
VIN is in the 7000's and 16,000 miles on car picked up on June 4, 2005.

I had a co-worker ride with me this afternoon. Upon closer examination, it sounds like a package of loose bolt/nuts somewhere under the front end, and he definitely confirmed that it's coming from the front end and rattles the most when rolling across uneven pavement....actually, just riding down the highway.Originally Posted by bluemule
