Nice Accord
So I've gotten a lot of positive compliments about my 05 Carbon Grey RL, except many people say it's a nice Accord.
Well today I had parked along the street at a meter, with my rear facing the direction of the Courthouse. So I would be approaching my car from the rear.
Leaving the Courthouse, I came up to my car and started tugging at the driver door. When it didn't open immediately, I thought that was strange and started reaching for the fob in my pocket. That's when I noticed I was standing next to a Carbon Grey Accord sedan, and my car was parked about 4 cars further down.
I guess it really does look like an Accord.

Nice Mercedes
How embarrassing!
I'll counter with the story of how the owner of a fairly new Mercedes 550 sedan walked over to my silver '06 RL and wondered why the door wasn't opening when they pressed the remote.
While there are undeniably shared design cues between the RL and the (now last generation) Accord, they are completely different driving experiences. The original Legend was also similar to the Accord of its time (but a bit more bulgy). Oh well, cars can only be so unique.

This doesn't help me one bit but...
No I wasn't drinking in court. (I can't say the same for some judges or prosecutors )
And it was broad daylight. About 11 AM in the morning.
The Accord was a 2006 or 07 model.
In my partial defense, this is all I could see of the car as I was walking up to it, because a large SUV had parked in close behind.

Of course he wasn't drinking in court!
They use heroin. I read it on Fox News.
How about this one: I walk up to my Lakeshore Silver RL and the damn thing won't open. I take out the fob, no luck and then... I notice my steering wheel no longer has wood. Dammit if my car wasn't the next row over. Darn RL's are cookie cutter, I tell you. I wasn't even wasted like a lawyer, I swear!

from that angle, it could happen....there is a person at my office who has a similar model accord, same color as my RL, similar tint to the windows...I"ve ended up parking directly next to that car on a handful of occasions and I do think the two cars have a "similar" appearance - if you are considering overal size/shape/contour... or course if you really pay attention, they are very different..but if you zone out and just see a carbon gray sedan and don't really really look - you could confuse them, especially from that quarter angle...
of course the RL is a nicer looking car. the other day my wife and I had to drive two cars..and she was in the RL and as I was driving next to it ...watching it..I couldn't help but think what a sleek and elegant looking car it is. I know the general medias opinion was that it was "boring"...but I don't care what 'they' think... I know I like it and it's a good looking car.
i'm sure the accord owner would have been happy to mixup keys with you and drive off in YOUR RL!!

We've discussed this before and it comes down to which features in a car each of us use to identify it.
To me, that year Accord and my '05 RL look very similar because the shape of the top, doors, C pillar, quarterpanel are very close.
Oddly enough, my wife, who tends to think cars all look alike, thinks that the RL "doesn't look like the Accord at all". Go figure.

accord does belong in the same family anyways. even the navi is the same now. interior is almost the same as the MMC RL. maybe they really should discontinue the RL at this rate, and make a bigger honda. I'd be down for that if it had better features.

The 2nd gen RL will age well too.

People used to always think my NBP G1 was an S Class. With the G2 - I just hear - "Wow! - that is a nice car - or looks expensive". I can see some similarities between the Accord and this. Most people don't give a hoot about cars. Just the fact that we are here makes us "different". Recognizing you have a problem is the 1st step. I know I have OCD about cars, parking and how clean they are. I am OK with that.
