New trunk lift supports

Has anyone found a suitable replacement shock for the trunk? My 2006 RL trunk will release, but won’t go up unless I lift it, but it does stay up. it should open and go up on it’s own when released.

I tried local auto stores but they say it is a dealer part, which I find hard to believe.

Anyone replace theirs? What steps are involved

So; I've never heard of our na models having an auto trunk lift.. I unlock my trunk; it pops and I go around back to manually lift it up. It stays up too.

I've looked before no luck.. My buddy's trunk shifted when he was hit from the rear so the trunk opened on an angle and grinded.. we had to remove and replace the whole lid. It was 400 cad .. never asked the stealer.

They wouldn't put shocks in there unless it was meant to lift it. It looks like the shocks are 1 piece, including the mounts. They aren't available online - they are listed as a discontinued part. I saw some used ones on eBay, but why would you buy a used shock?

Don't the shocks exist just to hold it up once you have lifted it ?

Mine has never lifted itself, even early in the car's life.

I think this is just normal behaviour
