New RL forum project--the 2G RL Garage
Chas2 and others have PM'd me recently about starting a reference guide for the 2G RL. Since we have so many people who are new to the RL scene, they may benefit from the information of us RL geezers/original owners.
With that in mind, a single sticky post with links to all the pertinent DIYs and other information the community here finds useful, will be useful.
I came to the RL section originally from the 3G TL section, having traded my TL for the RL. The 3G section still has a 3G Garage.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-service-department-aka-garage-questions-answers-check-here-first-553557/
This has been duplicated in the 4G TL section as well:
https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/4g-tl-service-department-questions-answers-check-here-first-701842/
I promise, I won't make it that complicated.
What I'd like members to do is to PM me links to RL DIYs here that they come across, and I'll put them together into a single thread.
This will be a work in progress, and won't happen quickly (my schedule doesn't allow me hours continuously to be at a computer, usually I'm back and forth between my real life--more time--and my online life--less time).
Comments? DIYs?

I will be replacing the brakes myself in my RL this weekend. I will take pictures and document.
Also if anyone doesnt know, replacing an airfilter, cleaning the throttle body and oil change is quite easy on this car as well. Let me know if you have any questions on this

...and my G_d, I had to learn to slightly touch the throttle or risk rapid acceleration to 110 WITHOUT FEELING A THING. Not kidding, happened once when I was driving it home and I almost peed my pants.
Back on topic...
I forgot to mention one other thing. If you're doing a DIY and you have an issue with the site's 5-minute edit time limit, PM me and I'm happy to use my mod powers to correct the post. 5-minute edit FTL :thumbsdow

Hi everyone,
I took some nice pictures of on how to replace the rear differential fluid (super easy). The hardest part is getting the ATF-Z1 fluid from Honda. Otherwise its a piece of cake with a hand pump
for the brakes....
Last week, i snapped my wheel lock while it was till on the wheel!. Took me all day to get it out with a socket wrench and a sledge hammer.
The weather here in NYC is looking crummy, so probably wont do it this weekend either. Possibly some time next week.
I'll put up pictures of a Jacking Up your RL procedure as well, its really quite simple with standard hydraulic jacks and jackstands.

DIY iPod adaptor
I have searched but is there a DIY for installing the USASpec iPod adaptor. There was one for the TL that I used but I have not been able to find it for the RL. I got my adaptor yesterday and I want to put it in but have no idea the tools needed and how to take the console apart. Thanks!!

more bad news!
one of the screws that hold the rotor on to the car broke my drill bit and now has a bit lodged inside of it. Therefore I couldn't remove any of the rotors. I did however, change the brakes regardless, and will send you guys on how to do it (its incredibly easy)

I've finally started work on this. I haven't forgotten, it's been pretty busy at work the last couple of weeks.
Lots of searches, ugh.....

Those silly screws that Honda (and Acuras) use to hold the rotors in place are always a pain in the butt. If you have a dremel tool you can use the carbide cutting bit (part 9903, i looks like the one at the following link --> http://www.dremelstore.us/dremel39.html <--- and you can buy them at the home Depot or Lowes) and then just grind out a wide slot across the screw and then use a nice big wide slotted screw driver to back out the screw. I've had to do this (too many times) over the years so I speak with authority on the topic.

Version 1.0 of the Garage should be coming in the next week.
I've been slow to work on it but I hope some of the links I found will be helpful. Even though I no longer own an RL, I love the car and want to help out.

The Garage is finally up.....finally made time for the formatting and actual posting. It is a sticky at the top of the forum. It will be constantly updated. Please post suggestions for DIYs to add to the Garage in this thread, or PM me. The Garage won't be as large as for the 3G TL, but I hope to help some other people here and prevent reposts on frequent topics.

Oh no, thank YOU Chas for suggesting the Garage and YOU Mark for putting in the trouble to post the Service Manual, a request that's been out there for five years.

Updates made to Garage:
Added door handle link
All RL-specific TSBs to the end of 2007 added, working on 2008 this weekend (hopefully)
Added rear sway bar links.
Updated Acura monthly service bulletin...question....should I break that thread back out to a separate sticky for easier visibility?
Keep your ideas coming. Still working on this periodically.
