That's perfect Rob! Your offering does a better job mimicking Dave Marek than he does with the MMC RL design mimicking tasteful automobile design. I think they should have had a few dozend people with mullets emerge from the RL at the debutto emphasize the styling change AND increased interior volume! *cough*

I think if the Joker needs a ride for the next Batman episode, we have a winner.

And larry, re: naked babes... Obviously you are unfamiliar with Tampa's notoriety for adult clubs. Naked babes are a dime a dozen here. But finding a replacement for the RL (including Acura's offerings) is REALLY a challenge. So no amount of naked babes will sell me on that pathetic excuse for design hacking.

Very good my friend. So much creativity here at AZ

I was thinking (a rare occurrence) that this car is going on sale very soon and fellow AZ'ers will be buying it. It's been fun, but this unchecked bashing of the car will probably need to stop soon

I'd reconsider the RL if it had that grille on it .. I can deal with the rest of the 'build with Legos' look with the grille improvement. But since that isn't an option, looks like Lexus gets my car upgrade business.

Cool Acura

Seeing these pics got me to thinking: how is Acura gonna launch in other markets in 2010? If the Legend is as nice & luxurious as the RL is here ... then how will they improve their line of Acura cars there?

I hope they do not pull a Lexus & just rebadge the Honda Legend as an Acura RL & increase the price ... it did not work for Lexus & I doubt it would work for Acura.

Acura wanted to inspire emotion with this design.

For me, they have succeeded. My emotions are:

Anger, disgust, embarassment, betrayal,,,,,,,

Embarrassment for sure. I came back from a LEXUS meet in Seattle as a guest and asked some Lexus owners about their opinion on the 09 RL and TSX = The general consensus disliked it. But they liked the current GEN models.

Talk about acura shame.

I think the Photoshop above explains it all:

Honda/Acura wants a leading role in the next Cars film.

Now a question for everyone - if people get the "gold" package, do they gold plate the power plenum like a gold tooth (toof) ?

I'll chime in saying the Legend's grill is an improvement. But Acura still has not given me anything (in regards to design) that makes me passionate (emotional) about the car. One reason the RL is failing is due to design. Not that its bad but just doesn't compare favorably in design with the 5 series, M35/45, CTS or Lexus GS.

Why are the people standing beside the turnstile making the shape of a cross with their hands?

+1 and well said.

Looks similar to the current grille, then again that's probably why I like this one better.

The new grill of the Legend 2009 looks too big and wide. The european Accord's one looks much more better...

power socket

did anyone else notice the auxiliary power socket has moved to the driver's side (Left) of the gear shift. Now the power cord for my passport will interfere with the view of the nav screen. I tried the new Solo and it never seemed to go off. Even got a ticket with it. Sent it back and went back to the Passport 8500. I wonder if the RL has something in the windshield that interferes with the Solo reception, similar to the problem i've seen posted with the MB S class.

We mostly seem to have similar opinions on this, it's just a matter of degree. The Power Phlegm grille is ugly, nay, detestably hideous, in its own right. This one is a bit better. Yet this global Legend front end doesn't work either, I think primarily due to the weird disconnect between the front of the hood and the upper edge of the headlights. The rear looks Bangled (as in mangled). The rectilinear trunk design does not flow with the smooth curves of the rest of the body. Umm, I mean the CAR's body guys...ahem.
