New Guy

I've been a member of this Acura forum for two years but never posted. I own a clean 1997 3.2 TL that runs perfectly at 180,000 miles strong. Still looks very clean and nice too.

I've been deciding on my next car and after going back and forth between a 5 series, G35, M35/45, Lexus IS/GS/LS, newer TL, etc... I've decided on getting an RL. I don't buy new cars... I like to let someone else take the hit on depreciating value, plus I guess I'm just a cheapskate.

I'm looking forward to owning an RL. I've got some tuning experience from my younger days, but I mostly plan on a suspension upgrade and wheels. Done. I've been monitoring the RL forum for a while and hopefully I'll have my RL soon. I do so much driving cross country each year that the step up is warranted.

Cars I've owned (Yep, I usually name them.)

'81 Toyota Corolla Deluxe, white (Big Juice)
'87 Honda Accord LX-i hatchback, grey (the Beast)
'88 BMW 3.18i four door, white (White Knight)
'91 Isuzu Impulse RS AWD Turbo, blue (The Pulse) Click here to see it
'97 Acura 3.2 TL, silver (no name)

Cheers,

AB

Welcome to the RL side officially! I've taken my RL cross-country on several occasions and find it to be a great cruiser. With my suspension mods, I can also have a little fun in the curves while away.

Feel free to post updates on your upgrades.

I am a similar type shopper...by I call myself a value oriented shopper rather than a cheapskate.

The RL in the used market is an excellent value. Just to mention an opportunity (if you find one) a base model 07RL, you could get a low mileage car for 26 or 27k or maybe less. You can easily add navigation by buying a nav unit off of ebay. Installation takes about 1/2 hour

Thanks for the welcome, all!

I almost feel guilty about ditching the TL. Runs like it's brand new still. All I've done to it was upgrade all the speakers to JBL, Kenwood double din headunit, used 50w 8inch powered bazooka tube subwoofer ($50). Sounds like a concert in there. I've driven it from the East Coast to West Coast and back, and Florida to D.C., and too many 2-10 hour trips to count.

As good as it is, I'm annoyed by having to put my handheld Garmin on the windshield, then take it off when I park to hide it. I'm also a wheels and suspension guy and I pledged to myself not to "tune" my TL. I only do quality upgrades... if you look at my Isuzu's cardomain page you'll see my styling.

I'm seeing 2005 RLs with under 50K miles for under 19K and under on Autotrader. Looks like one of those with an extended warranty is the way I'm going.
