2005 RL

23,000 miles

Other than the exhuast tips (replaced by dealer with 2006 tips) it has been my dream car.

"When you turn your car on, does it return the favor"? I can honestly say - YES.

As I indicated in my previous note, my 05 tips were replaced with 06 tips. It is not a formal TSP but the dealer will change them if you ask. There was a note in the Acura mechanics monthly newsletter to change them if the customer complains. My problem was soot building on the rear bumber above the tips. If your problem is soot on the outside portion of the chrome tips themselves, then, I don't think there is a solution for that except cleaning them regularly when you wash the car. That has been my experience and I am OK with it. I was not OK with black build-up soot on the rear of the silver bumber. I do not experience bumber soot any more with the 06 tips.

Where's FN P90? I want to know if he's put another 100k miles on his well-driven RL.

I'm up to just short of 22k miles now in 16 months.

22,000 miles

From the first day I have had vibration problems throughout the steering wheel and seats at speeds of 60-80 mph. Enough to make me rather take my f-150 on trips vs. the RL. My wife hates driving it and my friends think its funny that a $50,000 car drives worse than their free 1982 piece of @hi! I've taken it in over 5 times, had all 4 tires replaced, balanced, aligned, and drive shaft replaced and the shaken doesn't stop. I took it on a trip this weekend and wanted to run it into a tree!! The dealership doesn't have a clue and I am sick of dealing with them. Also a high pitched transmission whine when I accelerate. This car has been nothing but trouble and can't wait to get rid of it! Lexus here I come!!!

Ouch, sorry to hear your RL has been problematic. If the tires have been replaced and there is still vibration, one of the wheels could be out of round. Did the dealer look into that? As far as the high-pitched whine, there are several threads about it. The likeliest cause is a worn bearing on the driveshaft. I note yours has been changed. Did the whine improve for a while then come back? Did you get a second opinion from another dealer, if any in your area?

You might want to start a separate thread on this so we can give you more specific advice. That's what AZ is here for, after all!

hmm. you could also consider a lemon law complaint. I am not sure if that is only in CA, but I filed one for my 01 cls, here in CA, and had it replaced.. I won, but there was a risk of "great bodily injury or death" if my tranny failed on the freeway, and since I attempted to have it repaired 4 or 5 times, I was able to justify it. The bbb has an auto section where you can file binding arbitration with Honda. http://www.bbb.org

Try a new dealer, this CAN be fixed, call Acura, call another dealer which is recommended on this list.
Has it been in an accident you may not know about?????

2005 196,000

2005 RL

196,000 miles.

The car was shaking during acceleration. I noticed it getting worse over the last 70K.
Both front axles were replaced and the problem was solved.

The car is in the shop now to have the fog lights replaced. I'm having them put the thick plastic coating over the lens to prevent future rock chips.

Glad to hear back from you, FN.

It's nice to know the RL holds up over time under the severe driving you do.

By comparison, I'm just over 24.5k miles in 19 months.

EDIT:
Musiclink replaced 2006
Propeller shaft replaced 2007
Driver's side door handle replaced late 2007
Otherwise doing OK!

05 RL w/ 42,500 miles
purchased about 3 weeks ago

I took it in to the dealer after receiving an 'acura appreciation event' email offering a free 45 point inspection and used that to get my new used car looked over. As a result, I have an appointment scheduled to fix the power steering recall along witha front brake job and an alignment.

Are there any other recalls/TSB's I should be aware of? I searched but not much luck. Owner Link only listed the power steering hose recall. also i got acuralink set up online so now my car should receive messages.

finally, is $500 a ripoff to get a rear deck lip spoiler purchased/installed?

05 RL w/ 55,600 miles

I had a bunch of stuff worked on. I got the bad one, I guess. Still have a recurring vent rattle behind the NAV. Visiting the dealer tomorrow to talk to the service mgr. It was "fixed" last year but shows up here and there (plastic expanding/contracting). Annoying enough to make me want to trade the damn thing in....

Does the detailed repair manual from Haynes provide any exploded views of the dashboard? I might just do it myself...

2006 25k
I though this was a mileage thread and I have owned the car for only one week, so no "issues".

1st tank, mostly interstate 26 mpg
2nd tank, daily commute on local Boston streets 22 mpg. I was pleasantly surprised about the local mileage but think that the driving style was especially conservative as I knew the mileage would be less than the 03 TL I traded.
