So oil, brakes and tires? What other systems to inspect?

 

generally; one would inspect every moving component.
cars are machines, machines have moving parts. moving parts fail.

visually inspect brake pads, check brake fluid.
visually inspect suspension components. any torn boots? any grease/oil dripping from boots? any rust?
visually inspect all fluid reservoirs; are they topped off? top off if low
Visually inspect tires. do they look good? no? can they benefit from a tire rotation? yes? rotate tires.

basically; you're looking for something broken. If broken, fix.
