Made deal on new RL today
OK......
I'm in. Taking delivery on a new 05 RL next Saturday.
I chose the most recent VIN # in the lot that had a color we liked. (15344)
I noted VIN #'s 10405 (dated 1/05); #12323 (2/05); 13888 (3/05)
So...below is breakdown on what I paid for all
$45,300 for car
$ 1,400 for Acura Ext War 7y/100k (down from $1,800! I pushed for $1,200, no go)....
$575 for wood steering wheel installed (includes wood shift knob below)
N/C wheel locks (not Acura brand though)
N/C wood shift knob (I insisted they throw it in after they said 575 for wheel)
N/C Engine block heater. (surprised at that & happy because it offsets the price for the extended warranty). I need it for cold NY winters....no garage
4.39% Honda Finance for 60 mos.
Wish me luck, I am a bit nervous.......
Deciding factor to buy an RL was the enthusiam all of you have for the car... you can't all be wrong!!!.......or....???
Regards
Steve C

I believe the 6k off in AZ could be ligit.......something is
going on, maybe a backdoor Acura incentive to dealers to move RL's?

Congrats Steve- I am very jealous.
I am in preliminary talks with Acura of Westchester, where I bought a loaded '04 MDX and Acura of Greenwich. Both dealers have indicated a purchase price in the mid $40's and if they are not at your number I will have some points to work with. I also want the wood steering wheel, wood shifter plus the deck lid spoiler and reverse warning sys and a few small odds and ends. I plan to wait another month or two to get into the summer months when they are that much more motivated to clean out inventory.
Did you shop around before getting that price? If so, what did you find? There has been a lot of advertising with Westchester dealers on the Smart Buy option- little down, lower payment and then balloon at end of term. I am interested in that to keep the monthly pymt lower and Acura of Westchester indicated the balloon is real low, about $15k- with all the equity built into the car. Don't get me wrong, I really haven't done my homework on this yet and have no idea if it is a good deal or not. However, with an interest rate around yours, you are basically financing a car in the $30k + range for say 48 mo's and then can refi the remaining $15k at the end or pay it off and keep or even sell. I would anticipate residuals will get much better for this vehicle and one could even make a few dollars on a trade after the 48 mo's if you no longer wanted the car.
Just putting it out there to see if anyone has thoughts or experiences with this balloon type of financing. It seems like with the leasing issues in NY, it is becoming a viable option. Anyway, enjoy the RL and post some pics and share your impressions.

Does anyone have any idea what the details on this factory incentive is? I'd like more info before I call them.

Ok, here are my details.
I did all my contact over the phone and did not even go into the dealer until it was time to sign the papers.
05 RL carbon grey/black
Wheel locks
Splash Guards
Floor Mats
Trunk Tray
Wood Steering Wheel
Wood Shift Knob
100k/7 year warranty
Paid $48,950+tax.
The car started off at $46k with no add-ons.
I might have been able to work a better deal, but they gave me over 3K more on my trade than any other dealer want to

Now that I have my RL, going to sell my AWD Mountaineer as the wife has an 05 Odyssey for the hauling of the kids and assorted other stuff and my RL can take me on my commute with AWD.
It isn't that central NJ gets alot of snow (watch, this winter will have tons), just that when it does snow, it takes forever to get the roads cleared and back in decent shape.

Enjoy your vehicle for the years to come. We wouldn't mind some pics in the gallery.

Can't believe I forgot to mention the rear deck spoiler as one of the options added, it really is a good looking spoiler.
